Onwards, through the darkness and into the great, desolate beyond. Looking backwards he could see the stars, the distant shimmering lights flickering amidst a galaxy one million miles away from the moon. They were climbing to the top of the mountain across the dense, bleak outback of a planet miles away from earth. There was a cold breeze in the air, one of which they had never felt before back at home. It was foggy, harsh and left a bad taste in the mouth as they continued to trudge slowly forwards...

Alliance Upholstery is a great name for a record label. Little more needs to be said than that however we will proceed. Up next on the label is a split EP which is perfectly apt for the last day of winter, a sun kissed affair offering a warmth and insight into the season which lies around the corner. Roy Comanchero's "Moon Hike" is pure bliss.

Moving from his home country Australia all the way to Denmark was a necessary for the now Copenhagen-based producer, Sonny. Becoming instantly engrossed with both the underground scene there and Danish culture in general, Sonny now brings together notes from this journey into debut album, Union: Integration Of The Shadow; announced today with first single ‘The Feels’. 

Upon arrival in Copenhagen, Sonny threw himself into exploring and absorbing the wider culture. Weaving together the story of his journey across the forthcoming ‘Union: Integration Of The Shadow’ LP, Sonny discusses finding and making new friends, discovering hobbies and even finding love, all wrapped up in a musical format. Presenting today, first album single ‘The Feels’ we hear the story of Sonny finding love with his now, fiancé. Using his own vocals, he speaks openly of his feelings for her, embellished with deep and warming chords drawn and crafted from deep within his synthesizers. 

Feeling a close connection to the core sentiments of Danish and wider Scandinavian culture, revolving around sustainability and acting in favour of the greater good, Sonny lives closely linked with such values. Working completely with raw materials, Sonny takes strides to envelope the fullest sounds within his productions, working with purely analogue processes and even mastering his forthcoming LP to tape using a StuderA80. Placing upmost focus on quality, Sonny harnesses a further deep appreciation for the hands-on methods of music making employed during the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s. 

Representing the marriage of cultures, Sonny’s ‘Union: Integration Of The Shadow’ LP explores the beautiful overlaps in his native Australian culture and those new-found in his Scandinavian base; reflecting on how they have each molded him as a person.

Freak Terrains is back! This week's show celebrates a new reissue release on Anthology from Australian wave/jazz funk group, The Cigarettes. A homespun concoction of effects-laden guitar, rudimentary rhythm boxes, and primitive synthesizer, vibed straight to tape and left abandoned for over thirty years in favor of future legend.

MIMS is excited to share something brand new from musical mavericks, Twospeak. "Reflector" is a thrilling fusion of off-kilter jazz, rock and electronic textures. 

On their forthcoming album, 'Reflector' Twospeak have solidified their musical identity as an exciting and unique blend of musical styles. The record is borne out of the band's need to play songs grown from a borderless love of music, and creating their unique sound, surfacing from the mingling of influences far and wide along with the distinct instrumentation of sax, keyboards, bass synths, guitar, drums and percussion.

Led by saxophonist and composer, Ronan Perrett, the band feature drummer Ben Brown (Waaju), keys man Joseph Costi (Bahla), guitarists Mike De Souza and Ben Lee, and percussionists Adam Teixeira and Ben Rodney.

'Reflector' sees release on vinyl and digital formats on May 7. But you can download the title track now!
