It's hard to put into words exactly what Dal Ocal is and has become in what was it's 4th edition..

To put it simply, it's a private gathering of close friends that come together and build a small festival for each other on beautiful, sacred Australian bushland, so that they can frolic, play, laugh, cry, dance, connect & much much more.

It truly is a magical 5 days that we spend together co-creating with the purest intentions.

This set was recorded from 9:30-10:30pm on NYE. It was an absolute pleasure to share music at this time and build towards bringing in the new year.

With his @shaytoonrecords label, @sepehr-a has built a platform for underground techno and electronic music from the Iranian diaspora. But the versatile New York-based producer and DJ fights oversimplified categorisations and pigeonholing at every turn, extracting as much influence from obscure ‘90s rave records as much as Persian mythology

Alongside a 90-minute On Cue mix demonstrating this sound, he tells Marke Bieschke about his Flower Storm project with Kasra V, the influence of Silent Servant, and his grunge-influenced new band.

Paris-based bass devotee @beatricemasters lures us across a tightrope walk of a mix

"This mix is a recording from La Machine du Moulin Rouge in Paris for Positive Education Festival's event in January 2024. I was opening for Flowdan, Toma Kami and Bianca Oblivion, and was never happier to be doing a warmup, as the festival's crowd is super open to more experimental music. Therefore, I felt free to explore my favourite mood which resembles me the most: building a narrative from about 120 BPM to 140 BPM, navigating between psychedelic, syncopated techno and minimal deep dubstep. At the peak of the set, when the room started to full up, I deliberately took the energy down a notch with heavy contemplative dubs. The set felt like walking on a tightrope, balancing intensity and murkiness, bass and techno, playing with tension. It was one of the best times I ever had DJing."

The element of repetition is ongoing through his catalogue, creating a direct link to his beloved minimalistic classical composers and his roots. Voiski is part of several constellations aside from his main alias, Vrilski (with Vril) and Wav (with Wata Igarashi) to name a few.

Polygonia's (@polygonia) creative world knows no boundaries. It is a project from Munich-based instrumentalist Lindsey Wang that incorporates production, DJing, illustration, graphic design, and photography. Wang is a core part of the IO collective which works all across the audiovisual spectrum, and also runs her own label QEONE. Pining her down musically is hard as she isn't defined by tempo, but instead blends ambient and techno into soundscapes defined by great sound designs, texture and emotion.

Wang's love of exploring a dizzyingly diverse array of musical codes and colours is evident on this week's mix. The 90-minute showcase is a portal into a hyper-real world - an alien yet organic soundtrack of sub-aquatic synths, bioluminescent melodies and pulsing deep space rhythms. Pads drip and ripple, drums are dubbed out but direct and the mood is always brilliantly curious.
