The music for the prime-time BBC TV series, "Moses Jones", garnered Craig Pruess a British Academy Award nomination for Best Original Music, as it also did for the Royal Television Society for Best Music. Starring, Matt Smith, Shaun Parkes, Eammon Walker and Dennis Waterman, the story is basically about Ugandan musicians struggling to survive in London, with their tribal divisions back home spilling onto the streets of the capital here in the UK. Honest, gritty, sometimes brutal, it features stellar cast performances and atmoshperic urban cinemtography from director Michael Offer.

Bhaji on the Beach: Titles & "Brothers"

A light-hearted romantic East/West interpretation of the Pride & Prejudice story created by director Gurinder Chadha ("Bend It Like Beckham"), starting in India, moving to London, and then careening to California, lead Bollywood super star actress, Aishwarya Rai, shines and attracts, yet ultimately falls in love. A colourful celebration of two cultures coming together.

Ayres Rock

The tapestry beckons, whirling around a central point of longing and intrigue; where pungent smells of temples and the gate bells of sacred enclosures fill the ears. Like a Tagore poem, a bansuri is heard on the breeze, and the whining sarangi tugs at the heart.

The sand goes as far as you can see, and the scorching sun makes mirages that deceive. A haunting refrain follows a caravan that snakes itw way into the distance

The H'Oponopono chant originates in Hawaii, and has a powerful spiritual message of love, connectivity, forgiveness and reconciliation. By these magic four lines, arguments and conflict can be defused, and a return to love and belongingness can happen Beautifully brought to this world by the enchanting lead voice of Congolese singer, artist and peace activist, Jean Paul Wabotai, this version of the song has been co-composed by Craig Pruess (who has produced, arranged and recorded it, including his ammbient trumpet playing) and Jean Paul, with the serene and heartfelt backing voice of Kate Marney. Kate left the earthly plane today, in the depths of the night, and we are posting this as a fond and loving memory of a sweet and wise soul. Hearing it now, with that emotion, one can hear the trumpet lines as almost an elegy. Kate, we will miss you, but your spirit (and sweet voice) live on! Love forever xx

Our new Ganda Boys' collaboration with American singer, Kate Dressed Up — a heartfelt Indie acoustic song fused with African lyricism and soul: sparse & haunting, and Kate's English lyrics speak to many generations.

Kate met the Ganda Boys at the The Vigil 4 Peace & Ecology at the Naumburg Bandshell, Central Park NY, where they were both performing. The collaboration started with Katie’s original, “Intro Song” and was expanded and embellished by the Ganda Boys soulful vocals to create the folk-fusion piece they call “I Wish.” She explains the meaning behind the song, saying….. “It is about always wanting to find a place where you feel at peace or always wanting to finding somewhere where you feel comfortable. You realize that that’s not always something that is obtainable, but there’s ways to find peace that are not what you expect and there’s way to come to peace with things that are not perfect……… You can search and search but maybe the thing that is going to make you happy is right in front or you just have to see things differently.” Both parties worked for many months and across the Atlantic Ocean to create the single; they even self-produced a music video together, which you can watch here: https://youtu.be/MjTapCS5eDc

This album continues the internationally known series of Sacred Chants CDs by Craig Pruess and delves into the ancient tradition of the Sikh hymns, which are imbued with the beauty and power of that lineage. Here are specific details of this chant (track 4 on the album) chosen by Craig and Dya Singh:

This is a passage from a psalm of the tenth Sikh master, Guru Gobind Singh, called 'Chandi Dhi Var'. This is incorporated into the first stanza of the standing prayer or supplication, Ardaas, after addition of the tenth master's name and also the final 'Guru', the eternal embodiment of all ten Gurus, the scriptures and teacher: Guru Granth Sahib. This holy book is resplendently displayed, read from, and is the focal point at all the Sikh services. The ten 'Gurus' are : Guru Nanak Sahib, Guru Angadh Dev, Guru Amar Das, Guru Ram Das, Guru Arjan Dev (who edited and compiled the first edition of the Guru Granth Sahib in 1604), Guru Har Gobind, Guru Har Rai, Guru Har Krishan, Guru Tegh Bahadur and Guru Gobind Singh culminating in the eternal Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji. (ardent Sikhs add the prefix 'Sri', and the suffix 'Ji' to the names of their 'gurus' as a form of deep reverence and respect.)

The music is expertly recorded and crafted. Knowledge of Indian music and its dynamics and harmonics is essential to get this depth in the sound. It benefits from 40 years of recording experience by producer Craig Pruess and is informed by an equal time of yoga and meditation practice. The artists featured in these recordings all display this same dimension of spiritual experience and calmness. Afterall, our nervous systems (and the state they are in!) are the amplifiers of the effect of the music created.

Guru Darshan

I'm a British Academy award nominated film composer/world music and multi-instrumentalist. These are some of the musical visions I put together in my recording studio, especially when I'm working on award-winning feature films or TV series. My band and artist production skills spill over into that arena, too, as I'm very busy with an international African fusion band, the Ganda Boys, at the same time loving all my varied work on soundtracks.
