This acid track is an absolute killer, Colin!

After realising they shared an uncanny stash of the same records, Melbourne Deepcast’s Myles Mac and Melbourne via Copenhagen’s DJ Camov formed a tribute band of sorts, occasionally coming together to share their obsession for forgotten 90s house music with the world. 

On their regular journeys back through the golden years, Project 95 moves between the soulful house of Chicago, NYC garage, Detroit techno, acid and early French filter house, channelling the legendary grooves of Ian Pooley, Paul Johnson, Daft Punk, Wamdue Kids, Fresh & Low, DJ Tonka, HMC and Roy Davis Jr. to name a few. No stranger to the interwebs, their distinct styles have been featured across the spectrum with extended mixes for Melbourne Deepcast and London’s Stamp The Wax Diggers Directory podcast, with a three-hour session covering everything from 90s dub techno to IDM and rave.

At home, the duo has been regularly called upon to set the tone for the likes of Glenn Underground, DJ Qu and Jeremy Underground, have been found winding back the clock at club nights like Melbourne’s Lost Weekend and Lucid, Sydney’s Vibe Positive and Heavenly, and Pitch Music & Arts Festival in country Victoria.

As we near our 100th mix in our main Phonica series, we up the game with a journey from New York born and Berlin residing, deep house legend Fred P AKA Black Jazz Consortium for number 97. Deep is truly in the essence of everything Fred does and its honest reflection shines brightest in his two latest albums "Oasis" and "Abstract Soul" which dropped back to back this year accompanied by some heavy in demand 12's on his Private Society imprint. That very essence is showcased in this mix he put together for us. Grooving through all sounds that have inspired the mind of this artist and cutting into deep layered moods of house, funk and techier bits this is a divine look into how Fred P approaches sound.

Bella Boo's RA Podcast both highlights her distinct personality and also the sound of Stockholm in full summer bloom, featuring local producers like Kornél Kovács, Axel Boman, Genius Of Time and Samo DJ. It's full of catchy basslines, hooky vocal snippets, luxurious melodies and plenty of brilliant transitions. It's kind of like listening to one of her records: a restless and kaleidoscopic approach to house, where the rhythms shift and a new earworm is always around the corner. Bella Boo has all the makings of a star, and this mix feels like another step in her impressive rise.

Fantastic Man has become one of the most exciting and revered producers on the circuit having released music on the likes of Mule, Love on the Rocks and Kitjen. He is also the founder of Superconscious Records alongside Griffin James.

As a DJ his musical taste is broad and wide ranging, drawing upon far reaching influences from the realm of House, Trance, Downtempo, Balearic and beyond. As such you never quite know what you are going to get but that's all part of the fun right?

Most recently he has been dabbling in a fast paced, new age approach to House and Trance - channeling the free spirited energy of the 90's and a sun kissed era for dance music.

Some might feel it to be nostalgic but he is very much at the forefront of a new wave of producers and DJ's looking to breathe life into and reinvigorate the sound.

This mixtape is one of the best we've heard in a while and is rightly suited to a Friday.
