*PREMIERE* Manuel Sahagun - Le Mirage

Fabric resident Anna Wall and production partner Corbi link up again for the first time since their debut EP ‘DATs In The Attic’ dropped on Ritual Poison in 2019. Between then, Anna has gone on to release music on her own label Dream Theory and turned in a gorgeous deep cut for music platform 22 tracks’ final send off before closing. Corbi has been no stranger to production either, heading up important label Fina records and releasing stand-out EPs on Rough Recordings & Kouncil Cuts.

The pairing bring their newfound knowledge to LTWHT, shape shifting between colorful displays of breakbeat and melodic perfume. Ahead of the release, Anna & Corbi spoke of their love of digging into the past, delving into old techno and rave records and inspired by artists like LFO. While the influences are apparent their sound remains unique, contemporary and flourishing with personality. 

Title track ‘Persistence’ opens with choppy breakbeats and deep subs, adding extra depth and weight; providing the perfect base for the record's shimmering synth lines. ‘Consciousness’ then conjures wide-eyed atmospherics, joining hands with a soothing, deep bassline and diamond shaped arpeggio. ‘I’m just changing consciousness’ is gently spoken as the track ebbs and flows across the oceans moon-lit surface. 

Subtly euphoric and inherently introspective, B side opener ‘Take A Moment’ shows a developing side to the pair's growing sonic palette. Early trance meets breakbeat, in an emotive display of otherworldly electronics and primordial whispers. The tracks bassline and lead add an extra layer of playfulness, turning the track from a cerebral workout to a blissful dance around an open flame. The record comes to a close with ‘Regardless’ an acid inspired dream that unfolds amongst a backdrop of clouded pads and intoxicating patterns.

This is a tale of two firsts, our first release on Tight Chest and also Will Penn’s debut. We found ‘Stijl’ mutating in a vortex somewhere between a rave flyer and an EMU-6400 ULTRA. The tune blends elements of old school Jungle, breaks and techno. This track offers a
chance to get a little introspective in places with eerie dialog and moody pads, while also being somewhat wily and relentless. ‘Try Not To Worry (Nothing Is Easy)’ is a B-side oozing lush textures and exuberant lead lines, glued together by tight breaks and warm subs. This track is an ode to better times. There are rumours it was formed on the Express ‘93 service from Kyoto to London.
The ‘Stijl ‘Night Night Mix’ is a rework that has been flipped and slowed right down with a steady groove and ghostly textures. Combined with this are vocals that sound like a diary entry being
spoken over the tannoy of a passenger plane flying over the dystopian swamplands. All the tracks were written and recorded in 2019 and are some of the first produced by Will Penn. We wanted to capture the rawness before he loses his beginner's edge and sells his soul to the internet in exchange for the next ‘level up’ in the production game. Hold On, Tight Chest !

Jungle flavours run rampant through CKNOWEP26. This time Frey (aka the prolific Benedikt Frey) joins us to lay down 3 jungle infused rhythms. Title track 'Shadow' and 'D.Y.S.' expertly blend complex drums and morphing synthesis with the haunting and recondite vocals of Nadia D'Alo on the A-side. PI rounds off the record with a more familiar jungle outing but is by all means as unique as the rest of the record. One for the heads, inside! Available 10 August 2020.

This place was a mess, what on earth had happened here by which such chaos was allowed to reign free with reckless abandon and blatant disregard. This is not what was planned, not for them, not for us. Now as they looked out upon a barren landscape, a desolate space of machinery and deserts they began to ponder their own place upon this great earth. This was scum planet and it was lost. 

Warning is a record label and party series of which we have followed closely over the years. The illustrious black and yellow tinged imprint is punchy, bold and showcases some of the best in underground electronic music. This latest EP is no exception and features a killer track called "Scum Planet" by OCB...

The crumbling wall felt course to the touch as he trailed his fingers across it, trying to find his way out of this damp, festering place. Somewhere far off he could hear the shouts of his so-called "friends", laughing and jeering at his expense. He had wanted to prove himself, show them he was worthy of being part of their group, but now, stumbling around in the darkness, he only felt stupidity and fear. They were no friends of his.

To celebrate reaching their 50th release, Manchester-based label Natural Sciences serve up a 20 track V/A with contributions from label mates old and new. As ever, it's a heady mix of mutant electronics, showcasing the diverse sounds that have continued to stand the label apart from the rest. From hip hop to electro, booty bass and industrial, Age In Decline features tracks from Mutant Joe, Galaxian, Prequel Tapes, DJ Frankie, and our pick from Finnish producer Sansibar.
