The spacecraft burst into the galaxy in a flash of light, exiting the lanes of hyperspace with the grandeur that intergalactic travel of that sort demanded. Made of advanced neometal alloys, its hull seemed to shimmer and glisten with an iridescent glow that warped and refracted the light of nearby stars around the craft. To the naked eye it appeared as though a mirage, and even the advanced sensors of many spacefaring empires would have trouble locating its exact position amidst the surrounding chromatic milieu.

Hailing from uncertain origins, its appearance was spoken of in hushed tones within the war rooms of this galaxy’s nations, for it was not known to be either friend or foe and bore no identifying insignia to mark its place of construction. The subspace pace it proceeded at was not rushed but yet bore a certain urgency, as though the ship stalked some unknown quarry from afar. No hails had been returned and no attempts to scan its interior had borne fruit, and thus on the planets below populations watched with anxious awe as it continued on whilst praying that it did not take specific notice of their lives. Thus it was that what could only be called the STARSHIP entered into galactic knowledge, and none yet knew where its course might lead.

DESPERSION debuts his devious first EATBRAIN release with the STARSHIP EP, which brings the label’s horde to intergalactic heights across the three tracks contained within. A rising star form Russia, DESPERSION’s prior releases have landed on labels including SLK Records, Empire Recordings, and Neuropunk Recordings, the latter being the imprint label of Eatbrain regulars Gydra & Teddy Killerz. Channeling the sonic energy gathered from these prior experiences, the STARSHIP EP shoots by at breakneck speed, overflowing with sci-fi textures and devastating bassline bombardments that follow the trend set by its name.

So simple, without knowledge of their essential place in the greater sphere – the victims of relentless experimentation as their genes were cast and engineered, their greatest warriors brutally locked with primitive force against one another, as splice after splice refined their innermost nature into a limitless purity of violence. They gave up their eyes in the quest for real vision, gave up their souls to match the black pits of their sockets, twisted and contorted in an endless orgy of bloodshed until only the strongest remained. They who were blind to their humanity, stripped of virtue, naked against the vast heavens above, enshrouded in the entrails of their enemies. In the aftermath of each assault, under the watchful eyes of their offworld shepherds, they gathered their strength again and prepared for the next INVASION.

The DUB ELEMENTS duo return to the expansive EATBRAIN label in force, following up their 2 track pincer movement with ‘POW’ and ‘Shots Fired’ on the Mirror Universe compilation with their first full release - the INVASION EP. With a rich and heavy background in the dark arts of harder drum and bass, the five tracks within are designed with the pure intent of knocking the hell out of the rave. The fires of the NEUROPUNK FORGE alight once more with the arrival of the WARHEAD EP, the latest release from rising Russian duo DESPERSION on NEUROPUNK RECORDS. Established in 2017, the duo have seen previous releases on a variety of labels including Ignescent, 0101 and Kill Tomorrow, within which they have displayed their development of a style that blends complex melodic motifs with aggressive percussive and bassline sequences for a synthesis formed of these two often disparate sounds. Now making their NEUROPUNK RECORDS debut, DESPERSION deliver four tracks in this signature style to create the latest set of auditory weapons straight from the NEUROPUNK FORGE.

Opened by the minor chords and arpeggios of the title track of the same name, the WARHEAD EP quickly erupts with low end weight leavened by the interspersion of melodic reprisals of its opening theme. The deceptively named PEACE which follows provides a slice of scathing neurofunk marked by the tonalities of the distorted hornlike synth that blasts above its rapidly moving bassline. OFFENSIVE next delivers an explosive barrage of transient percussive impacts that fall with perfectly planned precision amongst the tracks chaotic upper atmosphere. Closing the EP is I NEED YOU NOW, which departs from the hard charging energy of its predecessors to deliver a flowing vocal cut emblematic of DESPERSION’s melodic abilities.

With the WARHEAD EP, DESPERSION deliver a dynamic debut on NEUROPUNK RECORDS, showing a deft ability to craft beautiful melodic sequences and works of utmost sonic aggression in equal measure, marking themselves as a duo to watch as they emerge from the NEUROPUNK FORGE.

Under the Barely Royal moniker, Charles Broom achieved major successes in bass house including multiple UKF uploads, regular radio support, millions of plays across his varied productions and shows supporting Chase & Status, Charlie XCX and Wilkinson on top of multiple big tours. To just name a few things.

Now, having seen all he felt he needed to see under his former name, he decided he needed a change, and the Sovryn project was born. Over 2 years in the making, the next years look to be huge for Charles with releases lined up all the way into the end of 2022 and even a debut album and loads of high profile collabs and remixes in the making.

Static Vision is the perfect encapsulation of everything Sovryn is about: beautiful melodies, catchy hooks, impeccable vocals, heavy basslines, balls to the wall sound design and frankly just plain fun. Whether it's the beautiful liquid journey on Somebody New ft. Ruth Royall, the idyllic harmonies seeping into vile bass patches on Static Vision all the way to the straightforward murderation on both Invasion and the neuro / jump up hybrid closer Everybody, Sovryn's debut release has truly got it all.
