Cranky Owls is the new collaborative brainchild of two established American producers / DJs who have had their collective claws on the pulse of global 'House' music for over two decades! The tongue in cheek name evokes imagery of wise, nocturnal creatures who never seem to get enough sleep. Cranky, but lovable at the same time - these are just a few of the endearing characteristics that the sly duo possess. Suffice to say that the name is appropriate and the union of these two industry veterans was a match made in heaven! The melding of their respective musical styles is a unique blend of House music that is deep, soulful and abstact in nature, with a concentrated focus on what moves the dance floor.
 
Their first offering, a hypnotic 8 minute deep house journey titled "Times Up" was supported by a who’s who cast of diverse DJ’s including the likes of Osunlade, Spiritchaser, Miguel Migs, Grant Nelson, & Frankie Knuckles to name a few. The single ultimately cracked the Top 10 on Traxsource.com's highly regarded Top 100 Deep House Chart and went Top 15 on their Main Top 100 Chart in late 2013.
 
Riding the momentum from their debut release, the Owls next original production, the deep house / indie dance tinged "Serenity" is primed and set to do some serious damage on both club and radio level in early 2014. They've also added to the output of singer, songwriter, DJ Colette's new Candy Talk imprint and turned in a stellar commissioned remix of her song "Physically" - the 2nd single from her critically acclaimed album 'When The Music's Loud.' The remix package, which also includes a remix from Kaskade's 'live' group Late Night Alumni is slated to drop in the early part of the year.
 
Cranky Owls recent signing with the highly regarded Apt Entertainment Agency is yet another key piece to the puzzle in moving their brand forward to forward thinking global dance music enthusiasts in 2014. A Lil' Bit About Keith:
Keith Evan has played a major role in the deep house community throughout the US dating back to the early 90’s. For the past 20 years Keith has hung his hat, not only as a dj, but as a globally respected promoter for some of the top dance music gatherings in the United States and Mexico. His background includes a 13+ year history pioneering the House music movement in Las Vegas. He is the master mind for the world renown Soundbar events; a stage for many of todays most respected DJs including Kerri Chandler, Osunlade, Kenny Dope Gonzales, Rich Medina and Mark Farina. Currently he is globally branded under the Mi Casa Es Su Casa and Ambassadors identities as a touring artist, including executive rolls as a promoter and musical director. His extensive background includes performing on some of the genre’s highest platforms including Salted w/Miguel Migs, Sublevel w/Doc Martin, and Turntables on the Hudson w/ Nickodemus to name just a few. It was just a matter of time before this award winning DJ/Promoter would make his way into the studio. This natural progression under the newly branded Cranky Owls moniker with Groove Junkies own Evan Landes is a further extension of this visionaries calling.
