One of my old faves the group really tried to get into more uptempo territory with this one as its about 120 bpm I wanted to make it friendlier to play against some newer Grime and 140 stuff so the remix is 140.7 bpm. DJ's if you want this, holla! Really enjoyed making this one :)

It's unfortunately timely that I'm re-sharing this mix. We truly lost a great one today, Biz Markie, the cornerstone of humour in hip-hop with his larger than life cartoon-ish personality and demeanour. The B-I-Z's discography, legacy and history in hip-hop ran deep and his crates and music knowledge ran even deeper. 

I feel extremely humbled & blessed in hindsight to have spent time with Biz Markie in Australia, having both shared the stage with him in Sydney as well as spending a couple of days hanging out in Brisbane together with his brother DJ Cool V. We did what Biz does best and hit Chinatown in Brisbane for Chinese food, went diggin' for records and vintage toys and nerded out for many hours sharing, disecting, politicin' and listening to raer breakbeats, grooves, raps, acapellas and stems. It's one of the very few times I was absolutely geeked out meeting one of my heroes. There's been too many times when I've learned  that my childhood rap heroes are actually jerks, even more-so with the advent of social media. There are too many hilarious stories to tell and memories of that tour which will have to wait for another time.

This short but sweet 14-minute promo "mega-mix" was done in one take on two decks and a mixer at the request of the promoter of the down under tour. I kept it simple and just blended 7 of my favourite Biz tracks. There's obviously some deeper diggin' to be done in Biz's extensive catalog and I'm sure there'll be some great tribute mixes forthcoming but I kept this one as is because it's from a time and a place that hopefully some others can appreciate.

Nobody Beats the Biz. Never. Rest in Peace and my most genuine condolences to his family and loved ones.

Following the release of his 2nd album of 2021 (False Conscious Liberation) Tommy Evans tag teams with producer Beat Finder General to unleash Falling Upwards, an elite-level showcase of beats, bass and bars. 70Six Remix is the first single off the project, a mid-tempo groove that reworks a TE classic from his iconic Collateral Beauty LP. BFG cooks up an elegant bounce replete with Studio 54 strings for Tommy to glide over with his trademark conversational flow dropping tongue-in-cheek lyrics referencing seventies icons from Pam Grier to Huggy Bear. I've always wanted to make a cut n paste project, since the days of pause button mixes, before I even had a turntable...So here it is,
this is a four part project, parts 1,2,3 & 4 all feature on a limited double vinyl release "Everything's Turning Up Dusty" ONLY 300 made,
each side lasts 15 minutes, and was a creation conceived during the 2020 lockdown, over these months in 2020 I had time on my hands, like everyone else, and decided, I would need to be creative to get through it all, so, proceeded to begin & complete what would turn out, to be an hour, of remixes, and loops, from rare library records, or samples that people wouldn't probably know, obscure breaks or just crazy records I had within my collection, that I always wanted to use, all tied together in four parts & glued together cut n paste story style.  
Throughout the months it took to make this project, I came up with the 4 parts, so spent around 1 month to make each part, here it is, in all it's glory, as one whole part for you to listen along. 
The records are pressed at 45 rpm, in two colour variants, the artwork on the cover & all four centre  labels is also, cut n pasted by hand, made by a friend and fellow producer, Saleem Andrew McGroarty

After the success of the Dig For Victory EP (Album of the month in HHC) Soundsci's original formation of Audessey, Jonny Cuba and Ollie Teeba got straight back to the lab to work on new material. The chemistry sparked between fellow GA resident U-George (Hemisphere) who featured on 'The Question?' and Audessey continued and the group expanded. The crew had been fans of Oxygen (SPOX / Sputnik Brown) and what started as a feature on one track quickly turned into two then three tracks with the emcees building on their relationships, Ox is now a permanent fixture and lead to the In A Flash / Class In Session 7". Production is handled again by Jonny and Ollie, with the only outside production from Jaisu (Sha Stimuli, Maffew Ragazino etc) on the track 'Change'. Guests John Robinson (Scienz of Life, Sol Uprising, Lewis Parker etc), Cadence (Raw Produce, Alternate Reality) and Ghettosocks (Twin Peaks) have been carefully chosen due to skill rather than 'who's hot' (although expect the Drake collab early 2036). No Sleep Nigel handled all the mixing and the album was mastered by Simon @ The Exchange direct from 1/4" reel to reel to the lacquers giving the vinyl it's unique, warm sound, the double LP is definitely the preferred listening method. Finishing the album off we have the incredible design skills of Mr Krum (Cold Rock Stuff / Vinyl Veterans) who worked directly with the group on both the standard and limited bundle. His work speaks for itself but having designed covers for DJ Format, Lord Finesse, Paul Nice, Grap Luva and more he's someone you should keep an eye on.
