Superbreak Radio Show Episode 079

Wahine returned for the episode air date August 1st, 2024 to kick off our 7th anniversary month. Helping her kick of the year of 7 was special guest, Czarina Mirani AKA CZBoogie, a Chicago native and important figure in the scene as the Publisher and Editor-In-Chief at 5 Magazine. 

The Chicago born-and-raised multi-hyphenate is a DJ, actress, dancer, radio host, event producer, in addition to being the publisher and Editor-In-Chief at 5 Magazine--North America's only publication dedicated exclusively to underground House music. She has interviewed and worked with the House community's biggest stars and continues to push for the next generation of talent.  

As a DJ, Czboogie has played alongside a who's who of house including Kerri Chandler, Derrick Carter, Cajmere, Dave Lee, Osunlade, Karizma, Spen, Mark Farina, Timmy Regisford, and Gene Farris and holds down multiple residencies, including Chicago's vaunted Smartbar.

CZBOOGIE BIO

Czarina Mirani (aka Czboogie) was originally a professional actress and dancer for most of her life with a serious love affair for House. In 2005 she launched 5 Magazine, North America's only publication dedicated exclusively to underground House music. She has interviewed and worked with almost all of the House community's biggest stars and continues to push for the next generation of talent.   

Czboogie's style is a mix of Garage, Disco and 90s style House music. She has had DJ residencies at Smartbar, Evil Olive, Grandbar, Hydrate, 3 Degrees at Primary, Circuit and with the legendary Boom Boom Room (the longest running House night in the world.) She is also a member of the 3 Degrees collective and the Strictly 90s crew.

Czboogie has played alongside some of her favorite DJs such as Kerri Chandler, Dennis Ferrer, Derrick Carter, Cajmere, Dave Lee, Osunalde, Chez Damier, Karizma, Spen, Mark Farina, Timmy Regisford, Miguel Migs and Gene Farris. 

Aside from being the Publisher and Editor-In-Chief, she also does 5 Magazine radio shows and podcasts. Her ‘Cz’s Boogie’ which won New City’s ‘Best House Music Podcast’. You can currently catch her ‘Cz’s House’ shows on YouTube.

Loving all aspects of the House world Czboogie promotes several events in Chicago and has her own dance company (Fivestarboogie Productions) with dance performances and classes throughout the city. Her House dancing classes have been named by the Chicago Reader as the ‘best dance class in the city.’
