About one year after our Vol. 2, clubs and dancing bars were closed again in France. This sad news made us decide to launch again our Edits series, slightly renaming it “Paradise edits”. Fortunately, the good contacts we made through the last year helped us pulling together this new compilation quite fast. First, we had the Brooklyn duo Fundido, part of Earth Beat crew, with whom we had been chatting for quite a while and talked many times about having an edit from then. Then, we asked Sputnik, a DJ from Moscow to join, as we were enchanted by his work for That’s A Steal and his release on Gop Tun records earlier this year. A few days later, Nicolas Kotowicz, another Russian artist, contacted us to share his edit and we thought he would be a perfect addition to the comp. Finally, Latane introduced us to Lloyd with a bunch of edits and we were very keen to include him too.
Here’s the result of their works and a few questions we asked them about their stories and their approach to edits.

This mix is a slight departure from my norm. The first song in the set "I Get Moody Sometimes" by the late great Amp Fidler (A musical legend from my hometown of Detroit) definitely sets the tone. The song is slow and funky and features another Detroit icon "Moodyman." This musical mood might require a nice candle light, a smooth beverage and a really cool space. I am still inspired from my New York trip as I had a couple of these songs playing in my headphones as a traveled around town last December. "Full Moon" by Mr. Fingers was definitely one of them and it stayed on repeat that weekend. (Woooo) I started to pick up the pace and get a little Soulful towards the end and I will for sure pick that vibe back up on my next mix, but in the meantime I hope you guys Enjoy!!!

TOY TONICS continues with re-releasing the best tracks of GOMMA RECORDS. The German label that between 2001 and 2015 was one of the key imprints of the then so hyped indie dance, new wave funk and proto disco sound (along with James Murphy’s DFA, Trevor Jackson’s Output records and later Ed Banger records). The Y2K sound...that now starts to become in demand again.

Now here comes a 3nd compilation part with music by Dimitri from Paris, who also did several EPs on Gomma in the 2000s.
Also, legendary Belgian disco DJs The Glimmers are featured (they had one album on Gomma in 2008) and UK legend Justin Robertson aka The Deadstock 33’s and one of the first ever releases by Daniel Avery (also on Gomma back then). You find remixes by Nicky Siano (Studio 54 DJs legend) and Horse Meat Disco, who back then just started their party series and already were connected to Gomma records. There is an amazing Flamenco Disco track by Spanish producers Hugo Capablanca and T. Keeler that has been hammered by everybody from Optimo to Ivan Smagghe back then, and Italian music diggers The Barking Dogs together with now fashion designer Marcelo Burlon are featured with an amazingly catchy electro Pop track. Of course also Munk who was the founder of Gomma records is on the compilation.

Gomma not only was a record label, but was also a home for cutting edge design, wild T-shirt styles, underground exhibitions with new artists from the Berlin scene and crazy poster and fanzine design. Before the label was closed in 2015, the Gomma visuals world has been exposed in exhibitions around the world, one of them at Museum Haus der Kunst Munich.

A Classic from Lenny Fontana’s history vault that was originally released in 2003 which work back then and sounds fresh today.  A sure shot dance floor smash to get any party into high gear.

BIOGRAPHY LENNY FONTANA:
Lenny Fontana a true New Yorker learned his craft from Radio personality DJ Frankie Crocker, the program director of WBLS 107.5 In NYC. Inspired by DJ Larry Levan, Fontana went on to play at Studio 54 in the late 80’s and other NYC Clubs. Through the 1990's he travelled the world and played at many famous nightclubs globally.
In 1991 he was the first US DJ to play at Pacha Ibiza and in Dubai. In 1992 Lenny had his first successful production with Butch Quick’s "Higher" (Strictly Rhythm). In 1999 he had his first crossover hit record, "What You Need" (Defected Records/Ministry Of Sound) with under the name Powerhouse Feat. Duane Harden. This was a Top 10 hit in the UK and was performed on the famous TV show Top of the Pops and the Pepsi Chart Show. In 2000 Lenny recorded his hit, "Chocolate Sensation" (FFRR/Warner). Both singles crossed over from the House charts to the Pop charts with the videos on heavy rotation on MTV worldwide. In 2005 Lenny Fontana pres. Octah'via (of C+C Music Factory) "The Way"(Defected Records), which became a dance club hit. After some soul searching, Fontana founded KARMIC POWER RECORDS in 2013. In 2015 Lenny Fontana & D-Train "Raise Your Hands" (Karmic Power Records) was a huge success as WMC Miami. Including remixes by David Morales and others, it received support from Louie Vega, Tony Humphries and many other DJ's worldwide. At the end of 2015 the record hit the #3 position in The Music Week Club Chart UK, and #14 in the End of the Year Chart. Lenny also produced a successful single for Meli'sa Morgan, "So Good"(Fresh Entertainment/RFC Rec). In 2016 and 2017, D-Train’s follow-up single "When You Feel What Love Has" (Karmic Power Records) received worldwide attention and hit the #4 position on Music Week Club Chart UK. With over 650 spins a week on daytime radio rotation in the USA, the song hit the #31 position on the Nielsen Billboard Indicator Radio Chart (USA) and the huge urban station WBLS 107.5 FM, Sirius XM Venus, Music Choice and many other FM stations added it to their daytime rotation. Currently, Lenny has had a release with the famous UK Artist Alison Limerick called Bye Bye (Karmic Power Records) with Phats & Smalls Remixes. In 2018 recently he has touched his productions skills into creating a full pure disco record called “FIRE with the lead vocalist Shirley Lites from Westend Records Atlantic Records. This has been well received and played all over Ibiza and all Glitterbox parties making it tune of the month in Mixmag Disco column. It will now be released on Midnight Riot Records with a new package with remixes from Dr Packer, Yam & Who, Robbie Blanco and Ron Caroll. In 2019 Lenny has worked with Hitmaker Vocalist Chris Willis on a collaboration called “Top Of the World” which is scheduled to hit by Sept of 2019 and is signed to Double Up Records. Lenny has a weekly syndicated radio show called The Karmic Power Records Radio Show” which is broadcasted around the world on stations such as Kiss FM (Au), Radio Italia Network, Funky SX, Select Radio, Ibiza Live Radio, and more.
