After a successful 2019 including the critically acclaimed ode to rave culture Saxon Street EP, with singles like ‘One More Time’ and ‘London Soul’ gaining support from the scene’s most influential tastemakers and DJs, Insomniax are back with their first release of 2020.

A collaboration with label favourite Miss Trouble, ‘Elements’ opens on a foreboding note, delivering a sinister soundscape right from the start. Combining the dark grit of neuro with the more jovial drums of the genre’s jungle origins, the production pairs perfectly with the distinguished vocals of Miss Trouble for one seriously memorable result. Where the drops deliver an infectious groove, things turn much more ominous as Miss Trouble’s iconic voice becomes more and more robotic, giving the track an apocalyptic flair.

With two Viper favourites coming together on one track, you know the result is going to be nothing short of phenomenal, and the creative forces behind ‘Elements’ certainly don’t disappoint. Since the release of his debut album ‘Crate Six Seven’, that received support from liquid pioneers Technimatic, Makoto, Etherwood and BCee, Mitekiss has been cooking up his latest venture with Hospital Records, the ‘Objects To Push’ EP. Consisting of four sublime tracks that explore the soulful, deeper domains of drum & bass. The musicality and versatility of Mitekiss’ production are brought to light once more, drawing for his love of jazz, disco and 174 beats.

‘Matter (feat. Vonné)’ eases in with elegant melodies, soothing piano flourishes and the eloquent vocal hooks of London based singer-songwriter Vonné. Named after dark matter, “which represents the lyrics ‘gravity pulling me under’”, explains Mitekiss. Smooth liquid-jazz bubbler ‘Tonic’ follows, as hypnotising pads and sophisticated piano licks rest delicately upon a blues-style upright bassline and rolling breakbeats.

Teaming up with Bristol’s Ruth Royall, ‘Magic’ adds a touch of undeniable euphoria to the EP. A classic feel-good drum & bass anthem that pays homage to Mitekiss’ love for all things uplifting and heartfelt. Last but certainly not least, ‘Charter’ brings the EP to a close. Darker, spellbinding atmospherics and hard hitting bass stabs are a clear demonstration of the depths of the EP.

With ‘Objects To Push’ Mitekiss has continued to develop his soulful, liquid-jazz sound, further cementing his unique standing in drum & bass territory. The successes of his contributions to the scene include his regular ‘Mitekast’ podcast and weekly ‘Rhythm Roulette’ tutorial series, as well as releases on Shogun Audio, Skankandbass and his own imprint Goldfat Records, that have seen Mitekiss appraised as a producer’s producer who is here to stay.

After appearing on the label alongside Aperio, Low:r is about to debut on Program through his own three-track EP. His background as a band musician flows through his sounds and his forthcoming EP takes you on a more detailed exploration of his moniker.

The lush tones of first track ‘The Journey’ is pinned by its clattering breaks, as ‘Fatman to Batman’ follows suit with flitting drum sequences and cascading beats. The EP wraps up with 'Jericho' with help from artist Hiraeth, alongside its lulling instrumentals.

So once again, it’s time to get with the Program. Breaking through another producer who’s continuing his journey on the imprint.

What the French is a name you may not have heard of yet, but already they’re built up some attention from the likes of Reid Speed’s Play Me Records and DJ SS’s Formation Records. However, the French production duo consisting of producers BPSK and Wobble-T, are no strangers to the scene with many years of experience behind them.
Their latest music venture together as WTF makes its first appearance on YANA Music, teaming up with Manchester-based MC Goldfinger, one part of the legendary Virus Syndicate. Combining his anthem vocals hooks and WTF’s aggressive production, “Last Man Standing” is a definite addition to your record bag for those peak-time moments.
