Next up in our Anniversary Remixes series, Mark Knight and Funkagenda’s anthemic ‘Man With The Red Face’ is reinterpreted by award-winning Dutch producer Hardwell, tech house talent and Toolroom regular Rene Amesz and longstanding house master ATFC. 

A monumental track in the history of Toolroom Records, Mark Knight and Funkagenda’s cover of Laurent Garnier’s ‘Man With The Red Face’ cemented the label’s position in the dance music scene, winning Best Ibiza Track 2008 at Pacha’s Ibiza DJ Awards and Beatport’s Best Tech House Track of 2008. 

Now our Anniversary Remixes package sees the track reinterpreted in three striking ways. 
First up, Hardwell supplies a big room, high energy remix crafted to fill the largest and loudest festival arenas, heavily supported by Radio 1 in Ibiza this is set to soar to the top.
Next, Rene Amesz takes his trademark techy style to the track, incorporating crisp, percussive rhythms resulting in a whole new tech workout for the clubs. 
Finally, ATFC takes the track to another level, crafting the aptly named ‘When The Lights Go Up’ remix, resulting in a laidback adaptation that that pulls at the heartstrings for the perfect finale tune.

Proving to be an enduring favourite for any Toolroom fan, ‘Man With The Red Face’ is now updated with three diverse remixes, ready for the next ten years of Toolroom Records.

2021 marked the return of Toolroom legend Dave Spoon (aka Shadow Child) as the renowned DJ & producer released ‘Steels’, his first record in over 15 years on the label. Slated by Fatboy Slim as the “Earworm of the summer”, ‘Steels’ hit hard earlier this year, receiving a huge amount of radio support and love from the Dance Music scene.
 
So, what’s next for Dave Spoon? Well whilst we wait for that next piece of original brilliance, landing on Toolroom is a killer remix from legendary Polish Dance duo Catz ‘n Dogz, who make their label debut. An outfit that needs no introduction, they have affirmed their place amongst some of House Music greats, with a career spanning 15 years and a discography just as long, is there anyone better to remix Dave Spoon than Catz ‘n Dogz? 
 
The duo brings a refined, Disco-tinged, festival flavour to Dave Spoon’s summer hit, adding a slick groove with an emphasis on the insanely hooky records brass section. Throwing in similar elements such as the brass swells, melodic steel drum hits and the vocal cuts, Catz ‘n Dogz have created a remix that doesn’t stray too far from the original but lives completely in a world of its own. 

A cut that has it all, Catz ‘n Dogz has nailed definitely nailed this remix by putting their own spin on the record whilst staying true to the originals fiery but fun feel. For sure, ‘Steels’ is a record you won’t be able to get out of your head.

On Wednesdays, I host Wiggle Wednesday, where I play Jacking House.

Thursdays are dedicated to Thursday Therapy, where I play a variety of House music, ranging from Drum and Bass to Deep House and Chill.

Fridays are for Filthy Friday, a request show where I play tunes sent to me by producers. I play all sorts of music, including new releases.

Sundays are all about Sunday Confessions, where I play Deep House, Melodic House, and Progressive House.

I do occasionally change the theme of my sets to keep things fresh.

First and foremost, I want to express my gratitude to all the DJs and producers who upload their music on Soundcloud for free downloads. Many people overlook Soundcloud as a platform for discovering up-and-coming talented DJs who dedicate their time to create edits for people to enjoy. This page is not only a platform for sharing music but also a space that supports and promotes talents, giving them the love and recognition they deserve. Music has always been a means of expression and communication, and it should always remain that way. Every true music lover starts their journey on Soundcloud, and even though there are numerous platforms to download music these days, sharing and reposting music for free keeps the spirit of music alive, in my opinion. Music is truly understood when you feel it. I spent the late 80’s and early 90s dancing all over Europe, experiencing the vibrant acid house, techno clubs, house, and trance scenes. From the iconic Love Parade in Berlin to the early raves in the UK, I have traveled extensively and have had the privilege of meeting many legends throughout the years. My passion for life has been earned, and only those with a rich soul and kindness are welcome to join me on this journey.

Some people simply listen to music, but for me, it is a deep love. Music is life in my world, and there is no better place to experience it than on a dance floor without a care in the world. Those who understand this feeling and space are always welcome to connect with me. If you are the type of person who starts dancing as soon as you put on your headphones, then you are my kindred spirit. There is nothing quite like that moment in music when a tune transports you back to a specific place and time.

I do my best to research music and save it on my likes page. So if you are looking for a particular tune or a banger, start there. I can guarantee you will find something you love. I also support DJs because they are the artisans who bring us joy through their craft. If DJs send me new tunes, I always make sure to listen to everything they send. I am not an influencer or one of those bots that seem to be everywhere these days. If I genuinely like what you produce, I will give it a like, repost, and save it for others to discover.
