Ricardo Villalobos wurde im Jahr 1970 in der chilenischen Hauptstadt Santiago geboren und zog im Alter von drei Jahren mit seiner Familie nach Deutschland, nachdem General Augusto Pinochet 1973 die sozialistische Regierung von Salvador Allende gestürzt hatte. Als Ricardo etwa 10 oder 11 Jahre alt war, begann er, Conga und Bongos zu spielen. Obwohl er die Musik liebte, konnte er sich nie als Musiker sehen. In den späten achtziger Jahren begann er, elektronische Musik zu machen. Von klein auf war er ein großer Fan von Depeche Mode und verfolgte sogar deren Tourneen durch Europa, um sie zu sehen.

Those nights at Las Dalias and Akasha were legendary, and those of you who were there know exactly what I'm talking about. For our 600th mix, a dream come true: Sven Väth. Which takes us back to Frankfurt, 1981. This is the year it all began for Sven Väth, a living legend who transcends time and trends. Currently amassing 43 years of career (at the age of 59), he embodies the pure and timeless essence of the art of DJing, defending and keeping vinyl culture alive and always reinforcing the importance of researching music beyond the obvious, because only then is it possible to tell different and exciting stories with each new performance that can last for 2 or even 12 hours.

This week we are honoured to welcome one of the Detroit music pioneers to the Source to Cycle podcast.  Stacey Pullen followed closely in the footsteps of the 'Belleville Three' AKA Juan Atkins, Derrick May & Kevin Saunderson.  Forging close ties with the originators, Stacey released on May's Fragile label back in 1992, and has since gone on to record many pivotal releases on labels like R&S, Plink Plonk, Balance, Saved and our own Cadenza Records.  Stacey still does the business behind the turntables always, so if ever you get the opportunity, catch the master, you won't be disappointed!
