In 1976 the 20th Century Steel Band (20CSB) released their debut album Warm Heart, Cold Steel. This proved to be a landmark release and featured the heavily sampled track Heaven & Hell is on Earth. The band eventually split up, but now after 30 years Michael Oliviere and Godfran Moore – original 20CSB members and writers, composers and arrangers for the band – have reformed the group with a new line-up. In celebration they are re-releasing their seminal debut on Mr Bongo.

It was the band’s appearance on the New Faces TV show in 1974 (the equivalent of today’s Britain’s Got Talent or The X Factor) which catapulted them into a household name. They won the top prize – a lucrative recording deal with the now defunct United Artists label. Their album was released two years later to huge success. As a result they were often invited onto TV and radio programmes including a session on the late John Peel’s radio show which can be heard online here: www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/johnpeel/sessions/1970s/1975/Nov1120thcenturysteel/c.

Sadly the band split up shortly after attaining their new level of fame due to the dissolution of their record label. Fast forward to today and original band members Michael Oliviere and Godfran Moore have assembled a new nine-piece group – including themselves.

Warm Heart, Cold Steel is an upbeat feel good album of 13 tracks recorded against a backdrop of the seductive steel drum. The infectious, instantly recognisable hook of the heavily sampled track Heaven & Hell is on Earth is featured on the record. Testament to its popularity the track has been sampled by over 15 artists such as Jennifer Lopez on Jenny from the Block, Black Eyed Peas on Say Goodbye, Xzibit on Los Angeles Times, LL Cool J on Todd Smith and Salt-n-Pepa on Very Necessary to name just a few.

Although sampling of 20CSB was widespread, it was also done without the band’s knowledge or permission. As a result band member Michael Oliviere – who composed Heaven... and other tracks – successfully sued for unpaid royalties which led to him and the band being credited for their work. Michael also received recognition for his contribution to music with awards from the British Music Industry (BMI) and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).

Nascido em São Paulo, Diego Franchi, também conhecido como "DJ Crazy Knees"; é DJ, radialista e produtor de conteúdo.

Em 2009, optou pela música como sua base e estilo de vida. Passou a estudar os estilos da Disco Music, do Funk Soul e também os demais gêneros e culturas que tem como base essas vertentes musicais através dos seus padrinhos DJs Balegatzzo e Sylvio Muller.

Diego iniciou seus trabalhos de DJ no projeto "True School Brasil", projeto este que nasceu em 2011 e teve por objetivo homenagear o legado do DJ Grego "Ippocratis" Bournellis, um grande DJ que a cena brasileira teve entre os anos 80 e os anos 2000. Este projeto teve como apadrinhamento, um dos pais da cultura Hip-Hop mundial: Afrika Bambaataa.

No final de 2019, Diego sofreu um pequeno acidente com seu joelho, onde ganhou carinhosamente seu apelido: "Crazy Knees", e desde então, assina todos os seus trabalhos de DJ com este nome.

Atualmente, Crazy Knees tem a festa "Boogie Wonderland", que defende a história e cultura dos bailes das décadas de 70 pra 80, juntamente com os DJs Marco e Niko.

Além da festa, DJ Crazy Knees inicia uma nova jornada em 2025, com a construção de remixes para artistas e selos independentes, projeto que visa manter a história sobre a cultura de remixar uma obra já existente, afim de dar vida à música para pistas de dança. Este projeto conta com a parceria do seu aliado, DJ Anthony Garcia.
