Since the inception of his solo career, Italian born Luca Cazal has achieved much in a short space of time. With an impressive discography across a variety of aliases, including the hugely successful Infinity Ink, Hot Natured and Luca C.& Brigante groups, he’s released via household names: Classic Music Company, Crosstown Rebels, Southern Fried to name a few. In the studio, Cazal draws from a deep well of inspirations that spans Electro, Dub and the classic house and Techno heritage of his homeland. Pair this with an unwavering obsession for hardware and flair for live performance to get a sense of the distinct personality captured in Cazal’s productions.
An avid digger and record collector, whilst humble, driven and devoted to the craft, Cazal is completely at home during both peak time and long-form sets. As an international DJ, he makes regular stops at club culture’s most lionised spaces including Fabric, Club Der Visionnaire, Panorama Bar and of course Ibiza’s DC10 of which he’s been a longstanding resident for, now over seven years and counting.
Constantly evolving, Cazal took first forays into label owning in 2014, first establishing Double Drop with long-term peer Brigante, followed by its See Double offshoot. Since launching both labels have offered material from bastions of the scene: Ivan Smagghe, The Mole, Boris Werner and more, across releases still championed amongst house and techno luminaries.

As a veteran in Toronto's underground house scene for the last three decades, @Toronto-Hustle has released on some of the most respected labels in house music including Distant music, DNH and Strobe Records. A combined knowledge and passion for straight up house music has seen Toronto Hustle play at many of Toronto's premier venues and warehouse events alongside such iconic figures in dance music such as Frankie Knuckles, David Morales, Dennis Ferrer, Kenny Dope, Detroit Swindle, Satoshi Tomiie, Ron Trent, The Martinez Brothers and Derrick Carter to name a few. Toronto Hustle is known for playing an eclectic mixture of new, old and obscure records. 2019 has seen the development of the vinyl only imprint ‘selections’ as well as a slew of events under the same name.

In recent years it’s fair to say Spanish producer Carlo and the Neovinyl Recordings imprint he co-founded alongside Baldo has been primarily responsible for some of the most authentic, carefree and all-round feelgood house music you’re likely to come across.

Having dropped the labels first release a decade ago, the Andalucia-born, Berlin-residing has developed a deep and soulful strain of house music that would work perfectly on dancefloors in the early 90’s as much as it does on dancefloors worldwide today. Yet despite the Spaniard’s nimble and ever improving production portfolio, it’s his nimble hand and impeccable work behind the decks that’s seen his status as a supreme selector land him regular sets across Berlin as well as Barcelona and London as his sound continues to spread.

With a steady flow of releases and gigs on the horizon, it’s no surprise his Neovinyl label has flourished in tandem, earning supporters in Adam Port, Cinthie, Kassian, DJ Caspa and Seven Davis Jr to name a few, with releases coming from a core crew of talented producers, including Black Loops, Garrett David, Till Von Sein, Matthieu Faubourg, James Pepper and Sello, with the its ethos and mantra of believing in the aforementioned and consistently supporting their evolution, in turn enabling them to flourish and allowing the label to become one of the most acclaimed and revered, and rightly so.

There are few phone calls we enjoy receiving more than those from Cris at @sashsundays.  A large, red, circled calendar date typically follows the conversation, accompanied with resulting excitement in preparation for our next S.A.S.H date.

Whether demanding a sweaty, pumping late-night/early-morning shift in The Den, the lower, slower, disco vibes in The Maze, or a sun-soaked warm-up effort at S.A.S.H By Day; bookings at S.A.S.H quickly become personal highlights and are always, always subject for excitement.

Well, we received this very call a couple of months back which came with a comforting indication: "once we're back; you're back."

With the ever-evolving situation that we call 2020; we have little doubt that the call came with an expectation that we'd be "back" in the saddle by now.  While that's not (yet) to be; we were offered a unique opportunity in the interim:

Back in September, we were—quite literally—handed the keys to the kingdom by Marley for the purpose of throwing down another edition of S.A.S.H's Sunday stanza for its Lockdown Radio series.  (And what a sweet space to spend an afternoon, it must be stated!)

We approached this as an opportunity to build our own theoretical S.A.S.H By Day composition—albeit, a condensed rendition of four hours—beginning with melodic, deeper vibes as a "warm-up", and running through deeper house, dashes of disco, with some top-drawer signature S.A.S.H-esque chuggers towards its conclusion.  Two parts Attic, two parts S.A.S.H, and plenty in-between.

This particular hour is the very first—more of a warm-up effort containing a selection of more off-the-grid, Attic-flavoured tunes from a line-up of "usual suspects".

While you're no doubt spoilt for choice with DJ mix content online nowadays; we hope that this offering will quench your thirst for all things S.A.S.H in your lounge room or office, in preparation for a time we're all back together on the (real) dance floor before too long.  And how sweet that will be.

S.A.S.H. Lockdown Radio Mix (September 2020)

A Bunch of Guys is the new alias of Utrecht based dj/producer Rob Scholtens, formerly known from Pablo Discobar Soundsystem. After 5 years as one half of the dutch DJ duo, playing a lot of shows all across NL, he’s now working on his solo career with renewed energy.
From an early age Rob has always been into playing and listening to music. His musical journey started by taking drum lessons when he was 6 years old, followed by the guitar when he was 11. He kept his focus on this whilst studying jazz guitar at the conservatory music school in Zwolle. In this period Rob discovered a lot of different genres like jazz, fusion & latin which has shaped him into the producer he is today. As a producer, Rob is always on the lookout to combine his passion for house with his knowledge and ability to play instruments himself. This studio work quite quickly resulted in his first solo EP on Dirt Crew Recordings, here you can hear him playing double bass, piano, Fender Rhodes, truly forming a one man band with ‘A Bunch Of Guys’.
His DJ sets are also a representation of his work in the studio. Expect house and funk, influenced by the typical Detroit & Chicago sound. At the moment Rob is focusing on creating a hybrid set where he can continue to combine his love for playing instruments and fuse them into his DJ sets to create a unique feel good club experience.
