Performed by The Weavers during their influential 1955 Carnegie Hall concerts. It was further popularised by The Kingston Trio on tour starting in 1957.
Speed forward to recent times and covered by Bruce Springsteen on his 2006 alum We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions.
