Premiere: dj bingo »there's so many of us yet I feel so alone« [BCAAsystem]

The 33rd release of katharsis is the EP “unearthed, recovered” by the Canadian artist online threat. This release pulls from the dissociated feeling of re-discovering artifacts of remembrance that were once thought to be forever lost, and finding a glimmer of hope as a result. The project accesses a flurry of genres - hard trance, noise, and ambient all find a place here, packing contradicting sounds together in order to birth new sonic possibilities. “unearthed, recovered” is emotional, grotesque and at moments beautiful with its sense of longing and melancholy, a crescendo of tensions followed by an exhale.

On this release, online threat excavates the hidden sonic potentialities of field recordings, samples and synthesis, borrowing their voices to spin immersive narrative tales through his stream-of-consciousness improvisational method. The EP is the artist's third release, following the EP “Memories of Dawns Lost” and the full album “Contrapuntal Transfiguration” on labels surf and Absurd TRAX, besides a couple of self-released tracks and mixfiles. The artwork was made by Matej Mihevc (@h.265_/) who framed and contextualized a painting by Victoria Palacios (@victoriapalacios_), reflecting the sense of decay and reminiscence that the album thematizes.

All the profits generated by the sales of this compilation will be donated to the Legal Team Antiraciste fund, which aims at helping the victims of french police violence and their families, fighting against systemic racial discrimination as well as defending their access to fundamental rights.

Tania Daniel, also known as Tati au Miel, is an artist born and raised in Montreal. They have been dedicated to their work as a freelance artist since 2017. Their artistic practice incorporates various mediums to produce evocative experimental sound pieces, sculptural and textile explorations, and ritualistic performances delving into contemplations on freedom, spirituality, storytelling, surrealism, and beyond.

As we have always dealt with sound as a political category, our activism is based on listening and focuses on the revolutionary potential that is inherent in the sonic. Under the banner of Sonic Agency we want to enforce a sonic activism of opposition and resistance. The artists involved are advocating for social and political transformation. Their sounds lend themselves to global emancipatory struggles, and fights for freedom and equality. The featured sounds aren’t complicit in the silence that surrounds us. They are furious, desperate, crying, paralysed, compassionate and rebellious like us. There is a message in sound that cannot be negated.

Listening is not neutral.
Listening shapes the reality we live in.
Listening is shaped by ethics and politics and leads back to it.
Listening is directly linked to memory and identity.
Listening is as important as speaking.
Listing is an active act.

The event will feature supports from Ana Caprix, 333 Boyz, Blue Stork and Larry, in celebration of a record that fills the void left behind by late 90s, early millennial dance. There's the ecstatic eurodance escapism combined with more modern bass music elements of opening pun 'Entrance', as well as lead-single, 'Powerpoint 1' and its hybrid sound from across eras and featuring syncopated beats, guns and sweep samples.
