Nice touch on the processing there. And good choice for the central bass riff and the use of feedback delay at the end of the previous section.

This part is nice and chill, but after the long build before, it felt like this was going to takeoff even more. I would love to hear another mix where you added additional layers to this section and built it up a bit more densely.

I was itching to add another layer of high-pitched melodic strokes but you know, I will not do it because it will change the atmosphere completely. Let it stay subdued.

Eric Whitacre provided the stems from the Virtual Choir 4 project to the fans and gave them the option to remix them ( you can read all about it at http://ericwhitacre.com/the-virtual-choir/remix).

So I started a list that highlights every remix so far that adds significant new material to differentiate it from the ones that did more straightforward re-engineering of the stems.

To be clear - all you have to do to get on the list is compose or produce additional parts. The list is not meant to say which mixes are "good" (which is very subjective) - just which ones have added new things to the composition (which is a lot easier to talk about).

Update August 20th, 2013: It's getting trickier to know which remixes to include and which ones not to. I thought it was a pretty straightforward criteria of "adding new material", but when the old material is chopped up and processed a lot but no new parts are added, should that be included? Tricky stuff. Feel free to let me know what you think!

All three of my previous remixes joined up and blended into one. All sounds from the VC4 remix pack.
I didn't plan to do this but it just happened to work...I do visual collage and I treated the sound material in a similar way (which worked!) thanks to all who listen, fave and download. I do sing, but I didn't sing in this project.

This episode of Transience is a rebroadcast from Intimate Connections, a special edition show on Cashmere Radio, that explores the relations between emotions and music. For this ,Transience host, Lou Drago invited friend and collaborator Ligovskoï to explore an emotional space that they have both been interested in, in their productions and Transience's target sound palette. Starting with our sun's frequency, 126,22 Hz, Lou Drago and Ligovskoï speculate about the effect of this specific vibration. Supposing a correlation between the life-giving energy of the sun and its frequency, the artists have created an hour's journey that subtly weaves through the interstices of emotional complexity, landing, hopefully, in a place that leaves the listener rejuvenated and uplifted.

As with all my previous ‘Reflection’ year-end mixes, I begin with a collection of albums, EPs, and compilations that resonated with me over the past year. From there, I curate tracks to build the mix—a process that’s as much about omission as inclusion. Inevitably, many of my favorite tracks and albums don’t make the final cut, simply because they don’t fit the flow of the mix or get lost along the way. There are plenty of albums I played on repeat that aren’t included here, but I enjoy this process much more than creating lists. 

As I remind myself each year, this isn’t meant to be a definitive “best-of” list. Instead, it’s a snapshot of some of my favorite music from the year, distilled into one cohesive and listenable format. Compiling these mixes under self-imposed restrictions is my way of revisiting and celebrating the music I’ve loved critically, while sharing it with you in a way that’s both meaningful and accessible. For me, listening back to these mixes is like flipping through an audio photograph, capturing the essence of my year in music and invoking memories from special moments.

I encourage you to use this mix as a jumping-off point—dive into each artist, explore their albums in full, and check out the labels behind the music. ASIP - Reflection on 2024

Over the past eight years, Paris and Brussels based duo '@ligovskoi' have been working on a diverse body of work guided by their interests in both visual art and music.

Through their engagement with various forms of media, the pair have continued to explore the poetical potential of minimal and abstract compositions. The result takes the form of unique publications, A/V live performances and multimedia installations that continue to inspire many.

For this live piece, Ligovskoï have created softer soundscapes utilising both acoustic and digital tools such as; field recordings, handcrafted pads, and guitar and wind instruments that all merge in a painterly form of music. 

As is most of their work, the next 42 minutes is inspired by the concept of infinite music and vast landscapes absent of human life.
