Vale Budino describes herself simply as a ‘music lover,’ but ‘music obsessive’ might be more apt. Since moving to Berlin from her native Italy in 2018, she has spent just about every penny she’s earned on records. Afro, Italo, funky, new wave, disco, soundtracks, you name it, she has it. The diversity of her taste slowly but surely won her the ears of people in the know and she became resident for Discodromo and DJ Boris’ party CockTail d’Amore having already founded her own event, Oscillator. In the last year, she has also become Music director and project lead at Terminal of Babylon, “a performative game and a social experiment in authority, fluidity and chance” hosted in Berlin.

A grand and theatrical track opens this week's mix as if it were a Hollywood movie from the 60s before crashing beats take you to the heart of the party. There is then a real sense of occasion to each and every mix. Euphoric Italo sits next to sleazy wave, tripped out cosmic minimalism brushes up with disco rap that is high on attitude. Every track is so full of flavour, passion and energy that you cannot help but react in the most physical of ways. What a ride.

For Viscera 095, London-based duo Metropolitan Soul Museum (MSM) take the helm! 

Consisting of Nick (formerly of Mock & Toof) and Filippo, the pair met in 2012 when Filippo sent music to Nick's newly born Teng imprint, and they have been working together ever since. They have been making constant waves with their melodic tracks which have landed on various labels including Public Release, Rawax and Gestalt Records, and are always well received throughout the cosmos. In addition to producing music, they also run the Kulture Galerie label and mix series, which we're sure most of you are aware of.

MSM's music is characterised by energetic grooves, laser synths, and analogue drum machines, and today's mix shows why they are a force to be reckoned with.

On sort ses plus beaux prefixes (pré-, proto-, post-, crypto—…) et on se plonge dans la décennie 80 et ses nombreux styles qui ont éclos alors : Boogie, Freestyle, Electro, HI-NRG, Bass Music, Euro Disco, mais aussi Post-Punk, New-Wave, Pop ou Disco. Autant de genres qui ont fusionné sur les dancefloors de clubs mythiques (Paradise Garage, Gallery ou Danceteria à New-York, Music Box à Chicago, Haçienda à Manchester pour ne citer qu’eux)ou bien sur les ondes de radios dont les DJs résidents ont changé à jamais l’histoire de la dance music avec leur sets visionnaires.

International Tribe is a weekly mix series hosted by Thris Tian.

This week’s International Tribe mix comes from Bufiman.

Jan Schülte, AKA Bufiman is a producer and DJ from Dusseldorf.

Having released countless records under various aliases, Jan Schülte continues to push the envelope as an artist. He has released on many labels, such as Dekmantel, Music For Dreams, Verein Freier Menschen und Musik and many more.

His back catalogue also contains recordings under his alias Wolf Müller, and spans genres and tempos. His sound can be described as Psychedelic, dubby grooves with mind-bending samples and rhythms.

His latest release on Dekmantel, titled ‘Albumsi’, is his debut LP as Bufiman. It is his first record since leaving his day job of 11 years, freeing up time to focus on his music without external pressure.

Cristaux Liquides is a multifaceted DJ always digging deeper into discovery, exploring for him still unknown currents and always attached to a form of electronic musicality, whether from a distant era, an evolving present or an experimental future. whatever the style of music, he always devotes an obsession for a sensual, hypnotic and psychedelic ascension. He also started by hosting a radio show in Tours, France, clearing the discs of deviant and bizarre Hip Hop music in the early 2000s. Subsequently, he created his own dj party in residence, in a mythical place in the city, in the form of an intimate, subdued and deep club, which has since become cult and underground reference.

For the 2-hour mix that he delivers to us here, he is committed to making us take a modern transport of dancing electronic music cut out for trance, as in his best moments of his underground particular night. Looks like the temple of the mind in full awareness. To achieve the desired result, he uses deep acid, break, techno, house and deviant disco music tracks. It is not necessarily a question of rare music, but of a certain atmosphere and progressive rhythm of different origins, but which all point towards rave music.
