It was 9 years ago, back when I was 17 years old, that we went on a holliday with friends for the first time. Rimini was our destination. Word reached us that Italy’s hero of the nation Gigi D’Agostino was playing in one of the nightclubs. Back then I was already enjoying Hardstyle music and was a sceptic concerning the happy and commercial sounds we all knew from Gigi. It was then, that he opened my eyes for something completely different yet so familliar. The music he started off with blew me away. A Hardstyle kickdrum and a hardstyle reversed bass, only played at 110 bpm. Instead of sounding weird to me, it just got me. Especially the reversed bass had such an impact over the sound system, that my trousers where flapping about in the pressure of the soundwaves. I asked around what the locals called this, but even they did not know it. Without knowing, I experienced the premiere of what would later be called Lento Violento, which translates to, Slow Violence. 

Later in history, Italian DJ/Producer Christiano Giusberti aka Technoboy incorporated this style, wich was fairly populair in Italy at that time into his own Hardstyle productions, and called it “The Undersound”. Sadly thought, most of the other Hardstyle lovers were completely oblivious to this. 

In 2007 Gigi released his album La Musica Che Pesta under his alter ego Lento Violento Man. It featured the track Quando Dico, and I could not think of a better track to let you all be introduced to this style. With a distorted kickdrum and a typical reversed bass, it’s time for you all to turn up your subwoofers and enjoy the madness!
