Ecstatic is proud to welcome new signing Mattheis to the label. Having already gained many fans for his work on the Clone affiliated Nous'Klaer label, Mattheis now graduates to his first full length, entitled 'Luminous Frames’. 

Expanding on the promise of his earlier work, his hallucinogenic arpeggio explorations call to mind the synth driven kosmiche sounds of late 70s and early 80s Germany, this Klaus Schulze, Cluster, Harald Grosskopf and Manuel Gottsching as well as contemporaries James Holden and Steve Moore. ‘Luminous Frames’  takes the listener on an ethereal drift through five masterfully constructed soundscapes of billowing synth drones and enveloping sequences.

I can still remember cycling our way home after a night pubbing with Sjoerd in the summer of 2013, right after we listened to LS together for the very first time. We knew this had to be the next Nous'klaer. Late 2014 I completed this record by finishing 1001.

Releasing my debut album has been one of my most meaningful life-experiences, and apart from the times playing my livesets, I seem to never have found a right moment to share it personally with the world. Today it has been exactly one year since the release-date, so this should be a good moment.

"Kindred Phenomena marks Mattheis' debut album. After two cosmic EPs on Nous'klaer and a mini-album on tape for Ecstatic Recordings, he now returns to Nous'klaer for his first full story. An album shaped for every occasion: driving from the city to the island, dancing in the living room, or raving at sunset. On Kindred Phenomena Mattheis picks up where he left off: 'Swell' serves as another episode of the prisms, the modular synth excursion of 'Bit Fragments' pushes his arpeggiator solos a step further, and album standout 'Ben_M' provides his most beautiful dance of melodies yet. Recording of my three-hour openingset at BAR in my hometown Rotterdam last week. Lots of slowly building polyrhythms, sometimes played from a different approach, bits pitched up, some pitched down.
