For the last episode in February, we are happy to host Spanish Techno dj & producer PAULA CAZENAVE (Combined Audio). 

If we talk about Paula Cazenave, we talk about Techno and a long career. Paula has been walking her case since the late 90s through the best venues and festivals in Spain, Europe and South America, highlighting her presence in such important events as Awakenings, DGTL, Brunch in the Park, Dreambeach, Aquasella ...

As an artist, we find ourselves in front of a real DJ, without frills. Her sets are built in the purest old school style: Technique, fast and smart mixes, versatility and eclecticism. She is characterized by hooking the listener on a journey without rest that can encompass everything from groove to dark and raw sounds. Her influences come from artists as diverse as James Ruskin, The Advent, Ben Sims, Surgeon or Slam, to name a few.

Since 2017, she has been immersed in the management of her own label Combine Audio releasing works by recognized Techno artists and new faces.

Dextro has a long track record as a producer. He started to learn the art of DJ'ing in 91 and has a different perspective on music. His residencies in several clubs for over 15 years has forged his name and helped him create his own distinctive brand of music. 
As a producer he has made many tracks with his Redkone project that was born in 2003, as well as a multitude of tracks for other labels. Over the last 30 years Dextro has played all over the world and has releases on a variety of international record labels such as BEK Audio, Suara, Gynoid, Sleaze, Korpus 9, Planet Rhythm, Odd, Toolroom, Naked Lunch  and more.

A.Paul has been helping shape the techno sound in the last decades, with his raw, high energy sets and his never-ending flow of studio productions, either as A.Paul or his other aliases like Loudon Kleer or Beat Therapy. 30 years devoted to electronic music, made him one of the most versatile and prolific artists in the world.

His unique sound and technique, granted him a remarkable career so far, in Portugal first ( acclaimed by the public, being voted best Portuguese techno DJ for several years ), and later pretty much all over the world, playing on some of the best mega events like Awakenings, Nature One, Rock in Rio, Syndicate, Ruhr-in-Love, Tecnolandia. Decibeland clubs like Tresor, U60311, Lehmann, Butan, Fabrik, Moog , Row 14, Perron, Panama, Rex, Inox, Pacha and many many more.
A.Paul has released over 100 vinyl records, several mixed CD compilations released in labels like: Kombination Research, Synewave, Planet Rhythm, Italo Business, Pure Sonik, Theory, Mastertraxx, Beat Disaster, Yin Yang, Impact Mechanics, and has remixed artists such as The Advent, Ben Sims, Eric Sneo, Angel Alanis, Orlando Voorn, Damon Wild, DJ T-1000, Virgil Enzinger, Robert Armani, Dave The Drummer, DJ Preach, Mike Humphries, Spiros Kaloumenos, Torsten Kanzler, Bas Mooy, Housemaster Boyz and many more.

30 years originally gaining en extremely respected DJ fame for playing standout techno sets on four vinyl turntables, many do not realise Cristian Varela is also a successful composer scoring soundtracks for film, theatre and television. Being one of the most awarded artists in the electronic scene, winning more than 40 Awards along his career, he has even recorded a symphonic album at the legendary Abbey Road Studios in London.
When talking about Cristian Varela's roots, longstanding fans of the Techno genre will need little introduction for his seminal remixes of artists such as Ben Sims, Speedy J,… and although  leaving in London for many years, he has never forgotten his humble roots. Often returning to Spain to give guest talks at many of the country's leading music schools and colleges.

In 2018 he plans to relaunch his "Black Codes Experiments" project, which originally started in 2001 is a return to his roots with a series of gigs and vinyl only releases featuring artists such as Regis, Mark Broom, Shufflemaster, Tensal, Abstract Division, Exium and Arnaud Le Texier, amongst others.
More than just a remix artist, Cristian Varela has released numerous solo EP's on labels ranging from Carl Cox's Intec to his own Pornographic Recordings, and although the relaunch of his Black Codes Experiments imprint will draw some of attention from Pornographic Recordings, it will not stop the label from continuing to feature new music from the likes of The Advent, Ken Ishii, Gary Beck, Marco Bailey, UMEK, and many more.
Also released the premiere of a special documentary film celebrating Cristian Varela's 25 year career in music, which features testimonials and commentary from friends and colleagues including Carl Cox, Chris Liebing and Joseph Capriati, plus numerous others who have been instrumental in his career. Now is Cristian 30th ANniversary in the Industry and just launched his track EIGHTH in one of the most prestigious Techno Labels MORD owned by Bas Mooy and MATERIA with his brother Marco Bailey.

With a gig schedule that takes him all over the world, for those who are patient, you should be able to catch Cristian in your home city or country. For those who need a more regular dose of his music selections, you can catch his weekly radio show at BloopRadio- London and all his shows that's syndicated in Europe, USA, South America and Asia via more than 100 specialised techno stations in more than 50 countries.
Cristian Varela is acknowledged as one of Spain's pioneering techno producers and promoters. When he started his career over three decades ago, he was one of the first Spanish DJ's to receive international bookings.
