While on a journey back to my birthplace to reconnect with my roots, I felt a primal calling to build a staff and developed a personal ritual of fire dancing  at the full moon drum circle in Ocean Park, San Juan. It gave me purpose to live, to feel the fire within my veins, to unite the human tribe, become once again the guardian of the flame.

Danza del Fuego

On the island of Borikén (Puerto Rico) we gather by the sea under the veil of twilight in honor of our ancestors and all the elements that guide us. We celebrate a ritual older than time, the ceremony of the drum circle calls for initiation as the full moon ascends.

The air becomes electric with hushed anticipation as the elders set the 4 directions to invoke the power of all the elements. Casting a glow upon the sand, a vibrant sound of flickering flames illuminate the mystery within.

As the rhythmic beat of drums resonates through the enchanted island, we begin to dance in a circle as the fire grows a sense of transcendent connection that permeates the atmosphere.

Under the watchful gaze of the full moon a peaceful energy forms through the artful guidance of the fire keeper. We share, we laugh, we dance, we learn to wield the flames as extensions of our soul, transcending the physical realm and diving into our true existence.

In this sacred dance, we awaken to a transformative power in our natural element, embracing our essence as a force of creation and destruction, a conduit for profound self-discovery.

Aho! The container is closed and free to transform and change as we all know, but its essence always the same, its purpose to unite the tribes of the island and create a safe space for a new paradigm to hold the flame.
