Few producers understand the dark art of drum & bass as intimately or knowledgably as Basher. A consummate contributor to the RAM legacy for over seven years, he’s executed countless precision appearances across the label’s extended network. ‘Trojan’ says it all. Even the title comes with heavyweight, dangerous connotations. Igniting with icy charm, Basher hurls us headfirst into an ocean of guttural bass and rolling concrete beats. Two low-end leads tightly twist and weave to create an enveloping sense of drama; savage distorted notes hammer his menacing message home while a creamy sub slopes and slithers beneath, tying up the elements to create the ultimate impact. Like the virus, ‘Trojan’ is instantly infectious; reprogramming your very understanding of groove mechanics.

Next up, ‘Weep’. Collaborating with Frankee, ‘Weep’ is a soundclash of significant proportions. Long-term friends, Basher played a hugely influential role in Frankee’s career, inspiring him to explore the studio in the first place. From the second you press play it’s clear the two complement each other perfectly; measured, moody and mesmerising, ‘Weep’ creatively uses tightly clipped vocal shots as percussive and melodic devices that build dynamically before the waves of bass and pneumatic beats sweep you off your feet. It hasn't been long since Document One carved their name into the pantheon of drum and bass heavy-hitters with their debut EP on Technique. Already, tracks from “Revolution” have been chalking up serious airtime and rave-play and ensuring that this production team's new release bears the weight of intense anticipation. So what have they got for us this time?

“Faced With the Unknown” takes us straight into darkness. Background atmospherics create a bed for regally cinematic arpeggios and some apocalyptic narration. This fades into distant reverberation only to reassemble as a cybernetic paranoic beat and bassline. This drop adds an extra layer of close-up claustrophobia which gives every drum hit, bass squelch and triggered sample the space and weight to really strike hard. This is four-in-the-morning music for for when daylight is just a memory and it's time to cast a shadow over the rave.

“Purp” is something different. The intro is fully-formed UK hip-hop, socially-conscious bars from Fio and all. But before we have time to strap on our backpacks, there's just a hint of double-time percussion on the horizon, and we're launched into a filthy drop, with grinding mid-range basses and an insistent resonant snare that turns the heat up to eleven. The juxtaposition of funky hip-hop and grimy D&B give this track an irresistible Bristol Sound vibe, showing Document One's respect for the roots while maintaining a totally modern dancefloor sensibility.

It's only Document One's second release on Technique but with their already-prestigious discography and the acclaim for their “Revolution” EP, it's clear this release is going to get serious attention. Showcasing both darkness and light with their trademark musicality, these two tracks are bound for set lists everywhere.

The other track on the 12" is yep, you guessed it, Mefjus remixing Ivy Lab and their track 'Sunday Crunk' making a packaged out of a duo of cuts that have reportedly been shelling down the Critical raves since their creation.

When it comes to Hip Hop, New York is home to many great MC's and artists of all genres. Anyone who has ever visited the borough of Brooklyn will have seen its wide mix of cultures, ethnicities, and renowned musicians living within some of the most historic neighbourhoods in the world. Growing up within this melting pot has inspired the MC known as T.R.A.C. and as a result, he holds a deep burning ambition To Rule And Conquer the scene he is so immersed in.

Although his roots lie in NYC Hip Hop, T.R.A.C. is also a long-time lover of breakbeats at 174bpm, taking inspiration from Marc Mac, legend of 4 Hero and Reinforced fame, who would eventually produce his debut album on BBE Records. Building a loyal following over the past ten years, performing at Drum and Bass events all over North America, Canada and Europe, it was on one such occasion that he caught the attention of V Recordings head honcho Bryan Gee who instantly recognised his lyrical skills and the opportunity to unite that East Coast Hip Hop style with its distant cousin from across the pond, Drum and Bass.

A supreme lyricist, T.R.A.C.'s talents have seen him work with legendary producers such as Marc Mac and Lewis Parker. As a Drum and Bass MC, he's rocked stages with an ever growing list of A-class DJs such as LTJ Bukem, Roni Size, and Goldie (to name a few); and, is recognized internationally throughout his career in the genre as a premiere stateside born MC, with the roots of a talented Hip Hop artist.

Featured on a plethora of projects for UK's Lewis Parker and Visioneer extraordinaire Marc Mac, T.R.A.C. released his BBE debut Hip Hop effort, 'The Network', in 2011 and received underground critical acclaim. He recently garnered further attention via a number of well-received releases on respected labels including tunes like 'The Partys Arrived', 'Bossin' Ova' (Dave Owen), and the now classic 'Higher Ground' (Submorphics).
