Since the ‘Begin EP’ and his collaborative ‘Hello World EP’ with Mejus took the scene by storm, Emperor’s heavyweight approach culminated with the utterly outrageous ‘Into Black EP’ which pushed all the levels to the max. Now ‘Dispostions’ looks set to cement his status at the top of the leader board.

Having closely followed his music since day dot, we are very pleased to welcome Xtrah to Dispatch for a debut solo release, the highly anticipated ‘Disturbance EP’.

Coveted for his own distinctive twist on the techier side of drum & bass, Xtrah’s technical skill is unrivalled, but his impeccable control sets him out from the crowd; taunting and playfully manipulating sounds, even amongst the darkest, most sinister of vibes.

Building up a serious back catalogue in recent years, he has blessed Dispatch with some memorable, yet cameo roles to date, most recently with ‘Direct Approach’ alongside DLR for our first ever Dispatch Dubplate 12.

The ‘Disturbance EP’ is his biggest release with us so far and is well worth the wait, including six original tracks, that have blown us away right from the off; all of which have been a staple of Ant TC1 sets in recent months.

Featuring some of Xtrah’s most demanded tracks such as ‘Tibetan Funk’ (first aired by Mefjus on BBC Radio 1) and the mighty ‘Babylon Shall Fall’, fresh collaborations also appear on the EP, with Mako, on the bass throbbing ‘Purple Skies’ and Hybris & Skulpture, for relentless tech funk foray, ‘Fragments’.

A quintessential release for any discerning Dispatch follower, Xtrah delivers an outstanding EP, hitting hard with a special touch of class.

Santoku has already dominated US waters with their take on drum & bass, setting a standard within the American scene which has also infiltrated its sounds across the Atlantic. For the label’s next release, Instinkt steps forward after becoming a renowned name on imprints such as Red Light, Kill Tomorrow, Methlab, Lifestyle, Delta 9 and more pivotal record labels which have helped to define the underground scene. The trio bring their individual skills sets together, from their hometowns in Germany and Denmark, to present a cross pollination of styles which highlights just how diverse the drum & bass genre has become since its inception. Humanon also jumps on board, with one member of Instinkt joining the Slovakian and Czech team in destroying dancefloors with their own hard lined offering on Santoku’s forthcoming ‘Not Human’ EP. With an added collaboration from Interzeptor, a brand new outfit from Vienna, it’s one of the imprint’s most versatile, European deliveries to date.

Title-track ‘Not Human’ rolls out first, bringing together Humanon and Instinkt for a cut throat exploration of both outfit’s production standards. Its snaking LFO and clashing drums bring you into its heart, showing how both sets of artists go in hard and without limitations. Instinkt comes through next with the infamous Lifesize MC, who once again offers up his growling vocals throughout the tearaway record ‘Fiend’. You’re then introduced to ‘Fiend (VIP)’, which exhumes a welcome twist on the already snapping original, moving you into deeper waters whilst also rerouting the mix and pushing you through segments of antiquated, neuro infused breakdowns.

Finally you’re drawn into ‘Squad’ from both Instinkt & Interzeptor. It continues the EP’s hard lined approach, punching quicker layer after layer before it totally envelops you in its chaotic ways. With clanking percussion and a rhythm which chops and changes between every steppy set of drums, it’s the only way to end an EP which doesn’t turn down the volume from beginning to end. And that’s what makes this addition to Santoku’s discography so memorable. It not only presents the darker side of its talented roster, but also its expansion into the drum & bass world’s every corner.

Within the vast plain of a once feral land glistened a metropolis of undeniable beauty, a monument to those who had triumphed over what had lain in this place before. Brightly as it shone however, the shadows cast by its towering spires told a different story. The creation of such beauty had been an ugly thing indeed, and still within its darkest alleys there were those who remembered what had been and what they had suffered. In secret they met, practitioners of the old ways who stood determined to see the return of the land’s natural state. They had watched the land carefully, seeing what others did not within each passing day’s minute differences. Thus, when the day of their ascendancy at last arrived, their ritual had already begun.

Those living at the city’s outskirts reported it first, a low rumbling that began to shake the heirlooms from their shelves. Quickly this turbulence began to spread through the city, and by the time it had reached the center the metropolis’ reckoning had arrived. A great beast had begun to smash its way through the city’s outlying areas, trampling all in its path with the unrestrained fury of the wilds. With singular intent in charged headlong towards the city’s center, reducing shops and homes to rubble without caution or care. Wrought from the flesh of one of the plain's native creatures, the great beast had been brought forth by the practitioners of the old ways to carry out their righteous vengeance. Thus they cackled as the perpetrators of their subjugation feld beneath its thunderous hooves whilst screaming out a single monstrous name, HOGZILLA.

EATBRAIN veteran Mindscape returns to the label under the newly revised moniker MNDSCP, continuing in the work of his original alias under the novel title with his latest EP on the label. Following the release of his three part Reanimator LP on the label in 2018, MNDSCP now presents HOGZILLA as his latest body of work, setting the stage for future releases under his new alias with four tracks powered by his singularly tech focused sonics.

Three tracks, two captains, one pivotal debut release: AL/SO makes himself known to the world joining AudioPorn OG High Maintenance for ‘Hypersonic’. It’s a Mach made in heaven: As the man behind Korsakov Music, one third of halftime muck-chuckers Ancient Radius and a DJ of ill repute for several years now, the danger Dutchman brings his own slap-happy signature to High Maintenance’s tried, tested and highly respected synth-chiselled, high-impact dancefloor sheen.  

‘Hypersonic’ takes the lead. From its widescreen planet-bounding intro to its walloping elastic bass drop, this is an ardent return to that pure thoroughbred dancefloor drum’n’bass that brought in a whole generation. Think Nero, think John B, think Mind Vortex, think Task Horizon, think getting your whole soul caved in, then rebuilt to a much higher spec, by an absolute juggernaut sci-fi stinker.

Next in this explosive vein of first degree bangercide comes ‘Party Every Day’. A mantra, a lifestyle and a fast-lane hip-shifter, all snake-like and rampant, it’s another white knuckle ride of a tune that refuses to sit in the rigid boundaries of any formal subgenre and has a bassline that cracks the whip in any mix creative mix scenario.  

‘Here We Go Again’ is the grand finale fly-by we need but totally don’t deserve. A swaggering funk jet powered by obscene levels of crude bass oil, it’s a celebration of maximalism, dynamic ridiculousness and full flavoured cake-baking energy. This one doesn’t crack whips, it’s cracks bones, homes and entire neighbourhoods. And your next dancefloor is directly in its flight path. You better G yourselves in and feel for the straps.
