Winter is coming as Icicle returns to the fore with his sophomore album, ‘Entropy’, released November 17th through Shogun Audio. Delivering his most developed and ferocious music to date, Icicle unleashes a tirade of bass weight, ready to blow the eyes and ears of the electronic music world into next year. Leaning from grime infested urban electronica through to emotionally charged trip hop and full on trademark sci-fi drum & bass, the resulting ‘Entropy’ is one of the most prime and compelling examples of hybrid dance music yet seen in 2014.

“My first album 'Under The Ice', was an attempt to showcase my influences and where I came from musically, it was in a sense retrospective. This new album is more of a look into what I think the future of this sound could be. The term ‘Entropy’ means a ‘state of disorder’ or 'measure of chaos' which I felt was a great metaphor for how my production style has evolved, diversified and developed over the years.

While the cinematic interludes lay out a path of ever increasing entropy, I've drawn in vocals from some of my favourite MC’s, Skittles, SP:MC and Foreign Beggars’ Metropolis alongside the very talented Sarah Hezen to join the dots between the energetic and the more musical moments. ‘Entropy' is a statement as to my personal progress in musicality and technique, and I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.” Icicle

Hailing from Austria, JKW’s first release on Interstellar Audio gives an insight into how JKW’s passion for fusing elements of Minimal and Neuro to create the ‘Abyss EP’ as a way to process and express inner inconsistencies.
JKW showcases his darker music scores that draw on metal and industrial workshop sounds embedded in the underground sounds of Drum & Bass.

Chapter 2 lands us in a dystopian soundscape, expect dark undertones, crunchy atmospherics and the feeling you’ve just awoken in Cyberpunk 2077. Beneath the surface awaits a menacing sub that
threatens but never over steps its boundary as it has razor sharp mid bass and percussion combinations slicing through and creating intricately woven patterns that have your senses on edge awaiting the next surprise. ‘Chapter 2’ is exceptional in it’s delivery of subtle drum & bass but with a
very dark centre.

With the brightest star comes the brightest blast, and since we're here for the sonics, damn does this tune Blast the Bass just how we like.

JKW - Chapter 2 [Interstellar Audio] PREMIERE

Scoping a methodical landscape, Gerra & Stone have begun to take charge of an underground dominion which was already steep with competition. They’ve slowly invaded cyberspace, becoming a focal point for adept drum & bass whilst remaining a talking point across the online platforms. 

With metallic thumps slicing through waiflike samples, even the intro to second track ‘Vengeance’ is intimidating. Twisted breakbeats create a forward motion that pushes you deeper and deeper into its grasp, whilst the track’s title plays out in between bars of finely-tuned anarchy. This is contemporary drum & bass at its finest; the kind its forefather’s dreamt of. Precisely laid out, yet paying homage to its underground roots by being fiercely unapologetic. 

So yet again, it’s time to get with the Program, as this round certainly goes to Gerra & Stone. Their set to catapult themselves to the top this New Year... Whilst leaving no prisoners.

With some of the genre’s most technically adept artists, the track-listing alone is enough to grab your attention. There is a high calibre of production standard present throughout the LP, audible from start to finish. 

Whether you become submerged by Freek’s rolling ‘Enamoured’, accompanied by the pristine vocals of Pia Thaleia, or captured by the apocalyptic sounds of Slang Banger’s ‘Slaughter House’, every taste is catered for. Program sets aside its older sister label Ram and creates a breathing space, allowing it to grow. The label is a heavyweight in its own right; this album is only reaffirms that fact. 

And such a range of versatility comes with names both old and new. L 33 returns to the imprint, with clashing bass conundrum ‘Manipulate’. Gerra & Stone also make an anticipated reappearance; their contribution ‘Po’rdosol’ is a steppy riddim constructed through a medley of beats and sliced up sample. 

But relative newcomer Elliott Mac uses the LP as a pedestal for another stellar production. The budding artist flexes his capabilities across the soundscape of ‘Filter City’, delicately composed yet highly intricate. It’s demonstrative of Program’s dedication to emerging artists, sifting through cyberspace to showcase some of the best acts the underground has to offer. 

So now it’s time to prepare your subs and plug in your speakers – Program have made a welcome return, further solidifying their position as leading tastemakers with a quality ensured guarantee. It’s once again, time to get with the Program!

A relatively new guy on the scene already proving to be quite a talent with a string of releases on labels such as Renegade Hardware, Rise Audio and Noisia's imprint Invisible, it was obvious to us that Signal had to develop something for the lucrative Binary series. Jon Signal delivers too, for a guy of only 16 years of age there's quite a career set ahead of him.
