Description: This album is the product of a Year 8 Composition Unit in the Dance Music Genre. Pupils (in mixed ability classes) were asked to use modal chord progressions in the key of C Major to create a piece of Dance Music. The only instruments provided were the drum parts which are common to each track, All other parts were composed and recorded by the pupils themselves.

Introducing Mia Hirst. Mia is one of our most talented young vocalists. Since September 2015 she has been receiving one to one vocal coaching here at the academy and has shown so much passion, enthusiasm and talent that she will be taking her Grade 5 Vocal Skills exam during the summer. Mia has not had any prior experience with vocal examinations so going straight in at 5 is quite an accomplishment.  In order to refine her performance skills, Mia asked to perform at the closing assembly of her year group. Performing in front of ones peers is the most difficult thing a musician can do. Mia was excellent and we are very proud of her indeed.

This is a truly excellent response to a Year 8 Composition Unit in the Dance Music Genre. Pupils (in mixed ability classes) were asked to use modal chord progressions in the key of C Major to create a piece of Dance Music. This talented pupil has been awarded the 'Superstar DJ Mix' for an outstanding composition. Well done OWe!

Crofton Academy is a secondary school with the highest standards of achievement that prides itself on the continuous outstanding results and behaviour of its pupils.

Here we wish to celebrate our talented young Composers, Instrumentalists, Vocalists and Music Technologists. 

These pupils are aged between 11 and 16 and have access to a wonderfully resourced music department. Our resources include a fully equipped ProTools 12.5 studio with industry standard hardware and microphones, Two music classrooms with 30 Cubase 7 workstations. Two practice rooms equipped with Korg stage piano's, a myriad of world percussion and a rather beautiful Pearl Export drum kit.
