Here's a recording of my Live Set at Festival Forte made using modular synthesisers and hardware machines. It's a bit rough in places, but you can hear the music being created and destroyed as it's happening and I love that most about performing improvised live sets. So I wanted to share the recording with you.

We have the honour to welcome the Dublin based Doug Cooney.

Doug Cooney drops his EP, Claim A Wake on Eternal Friction Records, containing three original tracks and a remix by no other artist than Jon Hester. 

The result is a powerful EP, that clearly demonstrates Doug’s unique and personal approach to contemporary techno. 

The balance between the rolling drums and the uplifting percussion are capable of bringing listeners into a certain state of mind. The warm and melodic synths fit perfectly into many layers of each track. 

Although these tracks are all fairly different from each other, they are all produced in the same effective and delicate style. They make for an interesting EP, reason enough to follow this promising artist every move from now on.

Taking Root is the culmination of 5 years of hard work with Variance. We are delighted to present this exclusive limited edition Vinyl to commemorate the occasion. We are beyond ecstatic to welcome Lag to the Variance ranks, his collab with Vlaysin ‘Sirena’ is a floor destroyer, a perfect A1 on our debut Vinyl.
A2 is Vlaysin with a solo track “Off To Nowhere”, it makes sense that Vlaysin had two on our first vinyl after his succession of releases on Variance. 
B1 is the ever impressive Paul Birken, another Variance veteran, and he has provided the goods once again, with the immense Hash Rate, textbook machine-funk from the master of the machines.
Lastly, but not least, B2 is a collab between Variance label head Scenedrone and Mindcut head honcho Axel Sohns, not the first time these two have banged heads, and most certainly wont be the last, same can be said for every artist on the release. I hope you have enjoyed us Taking Root, and now it’s time to flourish.
