There are few artists quite like Shy, a Berlin-based, American-born producer publicly recognized under various monikers including Special Guest DJ, Caveman LSD, uon, and through his myriad collaborations. His own productions and mixes consistently defy expectations, adeptly capturing the essence of the moment while continuously pushing boundaries.

Meanwhile, Shy's contributions to other artists' releases echo this distinctive signature sound. Whether collaborative, enigmatic, or paradigm-breaking, his imprint on the realms of modern club and ambient music is undeniable.

In 2021, a notable shift occurred as Shy's latest venture, @triplexlarge (3XL), emerged in the wake of imprints like Experiences Ltd., bblisss, and xpq?, of which he was solely or partially involved in. Since its inception, 3XL has not only delivered straightforward releases from artists like Ulla, Ben Bondy, nueen, and Exael, but also rare collaborative endeavors featuring groups like xphresh, crimeboys, and the evolving band sofa. Unraveling the intricacies of who collaborated with who and discerning the level of care involved is only part of the experience. The music itself speaks for itself, maintaining an unparalleled level of quality and consistency that stands out in today's electronic music landscape.

A double pack from Mammo, six tracks digging deep. General Patterns is the first time he’s released a record outside of his own constellation of labels and identities. Something new.

You can file this one under (dub) techno too if you like. Linked to the music he’s made as Puddlerunner last year in some ways, or the texture of tracks like Variable. It was compiled with Short Span following the completion of intense work on the ambient album Landmarks under his given name Fabiano, and quickly brought together an extended set of stripped back, patient, wonderfully rewarding sound. Really beautiful. Some mossy earthy texture, some starlit night skies.

We're eager to welcome a newer hometown hit-maker: Shai FM is an understated studio titan of kinetic dance music, releasing cuts of delightfully playable, forward-thinking dancefloor gold at a remarkable pace and across a dizzying range of genres. These tracks aren't just impressive for the music-fan-chin-strokers - they're regularly pounding clubs and festival stages all over. While a relative newcomer to DJing (and recent transplant from the Bay Area), this imaginative and technical mindset carries over into Shai FM's flow behind the decks, ensuring some brainy curves will meet rollicking rhythms to carry you into the night. He's also a new dad (congrats!!), so we're lucky we could whisk him into warehouse-land before the duties of fatherhood call him back.

@carmenvillain is an artist based in Norway who has been releasing on @smalltownsupersound since 2013. Her most recent album ‘Both Lines Will Be Blue’ saw her expand her unique brand of contemporary psychedeliaca even further, luxuriating in the sensuous soundscapes that she creates while also experimenting with music concrete and avant-garde techniques. A remix EP will be released this Friday 28th February that features some of Villain’s favourite dance producers. Her mix for Bleep channels her affection for club music, with just over an hour of trippy, rhythmically astute sounds from a range of contemporary musicians.
