The seventh episode of the Based On Misunderstanding series is a true show-stopper! Last summer the ultra hot duo Manhooker (Tomasz - Guiddo' Switala and Sebastian - Mavin' Magassouba) hooked up in their studio with Snax (Paul Bonomo and 1/2 of Captain Comatose) to crank out some new jams; the first being this veritable late summer hit, 'Cloud 9.' Their first 12inch on Ostgut Ton caused such a burst of enthusiasm, and the hype will only be fueled with this release. This is pop music at its best with lots of soul for the more sophisticated dance floors.

We can't think of a more appropriate remixer for this sensitive tune than Justus Köhncke. The Cologne based producer aims more directly to the club, but doesn't take the soul nor Snax' captivating synth solo out of the track. It's another magnum opus in Köhnckes already superior portfolio of remixes.

On the flipside we got a 'Special Deal.' Here you can hear Snax' presence even more boldly as his affection for 80's electro-funk meets the adorable soul of Mavin's voice. Would 'Cloud 9' not already be a stupendous stand-out track, you'd have to speak of 'Deal' as the definite sure shot. Airplay guaranteed!

For the - M1 Space Dub' version Manhooker used the legendary Patch #17, Organ 2 of the Korg M-1 (of Robin S' - Show Me Love' fame from 1990), spreading this way some magic dust on the track to make it even deeper.

And then we have one of the best DJs from Brazil added to the game. Marcio Vermelho from Sao Paolo is widely known by now across the borders of South America for his stylistically confindent mix of Nu Disco, Boogie, Funk and sentimental house. This right here is one of his first official remixes but it won't be his last one, that's for sure!

In the bustling world of instrumental grime, Mr. Mitch’s ‘Peace Dub’ phenomenon - initially a concept aimed squarely at flipping grime’s ‘war dub’ complex on it’s head - has fast become a reputable sub-genre all of it’s own. With a series of his own peace edits garnering plenty of recognition online over the course of 2014, Mitch has enlisted a trio of new-school producers to assist him in re-contextualising four unconventional classics and with it, christen a new series of peace-themed white label 12”s. 

Simply titled PEACE001, Mitch is joined by Gobstopper signees Strict Face and Loom, as well as elusive beat-making trio Silk Road Assassins on the label’s first ever physical record - a body of work that takes instrumental grime even further into unchartered territory. Kicking off with the brooding heartache of Mitch’s fuzzy, emotionally charged re-rub of Dru Hill’s ‘How Deep Is Your Love’, there’s also space for Strict Face to turn an icier, washed-out hand to the peace aesthetic on ‘Alice’ - his beautifully mellow, minimalist rework of Alice Deejay classic ‘Better Off Alone’. 

Latest signee Loom opts to take a deconstructionist route through Kate Bush’s ‘Running Up That Hill’ as glitchy melodies, ushered reverb and pitched-up vocal loops meet harsh, industrial sampling in unerringly dystopian collision of ideas, whilst Silk Road Assassins sign off with their take on T-Pain’s ‘Im Sprung’. Trickling, iced-out melodies and pitched-down vocals are laid over dark, menacing bass rumbles in a tribute to the sound that has already earmarked the trio as refreshingly slick sound designers.

Halogenix has risen to fame via a series of well executed releases that have been crafted with a maturity beyond his years and thus it was only a matter of time before Headz picked him up for a project.

The All Blue EP is a series of tracks that have all the hallmarks of Halogenix’ production- soulful and introspective with enough muscle to work out of context as well as in. The title track All Blue features the talents of UK jazz legend Cleveland Watkiss, Beyond The Bounds follows with midrange accents and soulful flourishes. Shank flips the EP on its head with a pure, potent hard to contain funk. Shores initially caught the ears of Lenzman and it’s easy to see why. Paper Swords closes the EP off, the final scene for the All Blue journey. The release is an addictive one and will no doubt do much to confirm Halogenix as the best in his field.
