Mario Castro Aka Never alone in a dark room is a Mexican born musician, DJ and label owner who started in making music since 2014 and in the minimal scene since 2017. He has crafted a sound that has deep-dark influence in Avant Garde, Musique Concrete and other classical experimental music genres, which he introduces to his enigmatic dark minimal electronic sound.
Tracks supported by artists like Mihigh, Vadim Oslov, Paul K, Denis Andreev and many more prominent minimal artists of the international scene.

This one’s been years in the making — literally. I started Breakthroughs over 3 years ago and just couldn’t give up on it. Something in me knew it had to be finished, but the mix and arrangement were never quite there… until now.

I’m proud to say this is the final version. It feels complete. It feels right.
And I hope it connects with you in your own way.

The title Breakthroughs comes from a very personal place — a chapter of my life where I took some big steps, faced heavy challenges, but came out on the other side with a new perspective. These moments cracked something open in me, and I wanted to reflect that in the music.

You’ll also hear some spoken word samples — real stories of people who died and came back, sharing messages from “the other side.” Those accounts stuck with me, and I felt compelled to include them. Maybe something in it resonates with you too.

I’ve recently started finishing tracks much faster — some in 4 hours, others in a few days — and I’m excited to share those soon. They’re clubbier, dirtier, more underground… but for now, here’s Breakthroughs, exactly as it was meant to be.

P.S. The cover art is a photo I took with my phone during a moment of peace while DJing on a cruise ship. Felt fitting to pair it with this release.
