Exclusive: Robert Dietz - Kirby

The Live At Robert Johnson label is back with another EP coming from former Rhine-Main resident and Robert Johnson mainstay Robert Dietz, who makes his label debut with his Schnups four tracker. Fittingly the release has the catalogue no. 069, which you may know is the area code of the cities Frankfurt and Offenbach, where both the Robert Johnson label and club are located and, as beforementioned Robert comes from. The EP kicks off with Kirby, inspired by the identically Jump'n'Run character from the Nintendo games series, and comes in with an Acid influenced bassline which is combined with a Breaks note. However, the initially brought up (happy) Acid-bleeps become more and more dominant and are supported by discreet yet smoothly ensnaring synths that are inweaved into the track's body and create an overall harmonic symbiosis and interaction between the elements. 

Robert Dietz's EP Schnups will be released on Live At Robert Johnson on July 9th, 2021.

Before Genius of Time forged their reputation as one of the most impressive hardware acts, not to mention flat-out nicest dudes, in the game, Dorisburg rode solo with music in a similar vein; once they took off, that moniker got put in the cryogenic freezer. Dials were set to 'dethaw' in 2015, and so we arrive now at "Dimension Sculpture". Release nº3 from upstart imprint Myth Music (steered by our very own lovely host-programmer-überdon Baron Castle, fact fans) comes with a tempting edit from label co-founder Lando on the flip, but we needed to let the A-side loose. It's choppy, dark, infectious and guaranteed to melt faces – and quite possibly support beams, too – in packed basements and festival tents across the entire summer, and beyond.

The EEE EP is the all fresh debut from Ensam, local vandal and core member of Solkyss. Born and raised troublemaker, he dropped out of school to make his way in to music. Sven Weisemann has been immersed in the underground House and Techno scene for quite some time now having started DJing in 1997 during the rise of the scene on his home turf of Berlin and going on to release material via the likes of Amsterdam’s Delsin, Mojuba, Telrae and liebe.detail amongst many more. Here though we see Sven joining the roster of Echocord, a perfect fit for his more dubbed out compositions with artists like Fluxion, Rod Modell and STL on the roster. 
 ‘Lunation’ opens the release and sees Weisemann fuse emotive string melodies and cavernous vocal echoes with off-kilter rhythms and rounded sub hits before title-track ‘Bilateral Relations’ embraces a more direct four-four approach via sparse percussion and tumbling toms alongside choppy bass stabs and ever-unfolding, echoing dub chords. 
 Opening the flip is ‘Monistic’, an airy ethereal number employing billowing pads, bright synth chimes and a dropped tempo dubbed out feel to create something truly stunning and thought provoking before the ‘Decimation (Valvle tR9 Mix) closes things on a darker tip with looming stab swells, heavily swung drums and sporadic growling bass drones.
