Barandana is highly regarded for his global record digging and innovative dance music productions releasing an array of hot music under the names Dea and Zatua, with distribution by Gudu Records, Second Circle, and Sound Metaphors.

His compositions are distinguished by unique melodies inspired by his passion for obscure Asian film soundtracks but when in DJ mode you can expect anything.

In this 60 min session Dea presents his recent dancefloor discoveries across new beat and new wave sounds.

Recorded live from a bursting Night Cat, feel the sweat off the walls as two old friends & esteemed contemporaries showed out. Travelling through raw uptempo grooves, pulsing deep house, acid explorations and straight hard slapping techno, the two take it everywhere and back again - holding an enthused party in the palm of their hands.

While the sounds of this raucous crowd was not recorded, if you listen closely you can feel the palpable energy as the lightly audible noise of jubilated dancers come through the stylus. Jammed and hot from an hour in and thick til close, this is audio proof of the way two very perceptive DJs can grab hold and take you to higher places.

The second mix in this series is by Italy’s Volcov. Around since the late 80’s, the DJ, producer and collector is known for his extensive knowledge and his gift to seamlessly spin across all genres with ease.

Volcov stays active with three labels of his own (Archive, Neroli and SJNRL), producing under the Isoul8 moniker and currently maintains a busy schedule as part of the infallible Sounds Familiar roster.

‘I’ve been asked by Crown Ruler to do a dance floor mix for their new series, but i never really play dance stuff at home. So i thought to record a selection of old favourites from classic soul, rare groove and 2-step [slow soul songs that people in the UK used to actually dance to] to other 80s jams. Nothing too clever, exotic or rare [most records go for less than a tenner] but hopefully will stay in your car, computer [and who knows heart] a little longer…’

When he isn’t trawling the flea markets and records stores of his native Paris, discovering those obscure party hits that never were, notorious digger Raphaël Top-Secret can be regularly heard rocking some of the best underground parties around the world as far as Sao Paulo or Vancouver. Not afraid to push the boundaries of club music, as a DJ Raphaël can be heard moving effortlessly between everything, from Boogie, Downtempo, Rap, Reggae, Afro-Caribbean synth bangers, Ambient or Industrial dance to the deepest late 80’s and early 90’s House.

Üllar has certainly put many, many, amazing soulful obscurities on our radar, kindly shipped them to our door and on top of all that, has managed to press record for us and deliver a beautiful mix for our autumn ears.
