Summer is the season for shellers, and we’ve just received a nuclear weapon from our very own Carashelly. You may have heard this dub setting off levels in our sets recently. Linking up with Crossy, “Transmitter” is a guaranteed rave stomper with Carasel’s wicked lyrics and Crossy’s immaculate production. But what more did you expect? Getting these two members of the Born On Road family together on a release was always going to be mega – and it’s made even more special by it being Carasel’s first on the label (who would have thought!) Ten years on from the release of his highly acclaimed, award-winning debut LP ‘Emulation’, Mefjus shares five of the album’s biggest tracks with his label-mates at Critical for the 2024 remix treatment.

A landmark album in the genealogy of drum & bass music, the hard, heavy and supremely technical tracks gathered together for the original ’Emulation’ set a new standard in sound design and pushed the conventions of the genre to the very limit.

Mefjus himself reworks original title track ‘Emulation’, flaunting his untouchable studio skills by balancing frantic rolling drums and expertly engineered sub bass with a his trademark otherworldly sound design to unleash an almost impossibly energetic track.

Enei and Calyx take a tune each; with Enei reworking ‘Suicide Bassline’ into ultra-hard, minimal jump-up monster, while Calyx injects his signature molten, twisted bass into ‘Surrounded’ to make it all his own.

Two of Critical’s most recent recruits complete the package, with VISLA transforming ‘Saturate’ from a moody roller into a gritty stomper and Bristol-based SMG bringing ‘Change Of Mind’ featuring MC Maksim bang up to date in style.

Introducing a special release from Kelvin 373, Selecta J-Man and Waeys. We all know what the first two familiar faces are capable of, but it’s a fresh debut on Born On Road for Waeys (which we couldn’t be more gassed for!) An artist with a reputation for creating intricate productions with whopping basslines – like his epic “Stopping Turning” track – he’s right at home alongside Kelvin 373 and Selecta J-Man. Three artists, one mammoth production. “Bad Boy Horns” is the name, and shutting down sound systems is this single’s aim. We have a feeling this one’s going to cause some damage this year.
