On this week's editions we welcome @christianvoldstad

Christian acquired his love of electronic while growing up in the UK. It wasn’t until he moved to New York, however, that he would attend his first underground party and find the sound that would capture him and inspire him to step behind the decks himself. Since then, Christian has become a staple of the underground scene, a party enthusiast, and an avid techno tourist.

Most recently Christian has been playing across Brooklyn and Manhattan and as far away as Black Rock City, Amsterdam and Moscow. His sophisticated taste in music earned him a residency for Bespoke Musik where he continues to explore his love of underground house and vinyl records.

We are happy to welcome him to our family, and we hope you enjoy this mix as much as we do!

YokoO has unveiled his wistful new single, ‘Cingulomania’, a dreamy production filled with atmospheric riffs and deep luscious melodies.
The track precedes the release of YokoO’s forthcoming album, ‘Nothing Can Compare’, a 14-track release scheduled to drop on 5th April.

Blessed with YokoO’s thought-provoking signature style, the single is an ode to love, with the meaning of ‘Cingulomania’ - first coined by J. E. Schmidt translating as “the strong desire to hold someone in your arms”. 

With his musical intuition driving his production, YokoO embraces the dancefloor with a dynamic approach. Pairing his forward-thinking melodies with heavy basslines, the French producer has made his mark on the industry via a range of original releases and a back catalogue of sturdy remixes.

Nine months after releasing Acuds Verbrennungsmotor Ep, we are not done with it yet. We found five wonderful artists to get everything out of the engine, which resulted in this new Remix EP. The title track, produced by ACUD and BEATMÖRTELZ, is here new interpreted in an impressive way by the downtempo specialists ARUTANI and O/Y, by RODION (ALIEN ALIEN), which is known for his massive Nu-Disco Skills, and finally, in a faster version, by AIO. Further LUKAS ENDHARDT gives the poetic track FLIEGEPETER a new look. The original version by ACUD will be published also in a radio version.

Hej allihop!

I’d like to present my two interpretations of the Swedish folk group Kolonien — just in time for a new summer!

Four years ago I was introduced to their music and I was instantly elevated and showered in nostalgia by their uplifting yet thoughtful and grounded creations. As the little pirate that I am, I went ahead without asking and transformed the first song ”Klockorna Ringer” into an expression in which both our inner worlds could shine through.

Last year I reached out, for them to hear it and let them know how many corners of the world they were traveling to and how many faces and souls they were lighting up, even without a word of the lyrics being understood — the energy and the vibe were transmitted.

To my delight Kolonien was excited to hear this (phew!). I offered to do another interpretation which I did in April in the Swedish archipelago, in between sauna sessions and dives into the chilly Baltic Sea. With the nightingale and the sun waking me up, and spring being in full bloom outside, the process of transforming ”Lämnar Staden” naturally led me to a light and playful place — a place of transparency and of free expression. This is Crussen and Kolonien’s own place and we’re very happy to have you here.

Melodic maestro French-Canadian producer @gabrhome and the versatile @evrenfurtuna use their different cultural backgrounds to create an evocative, watery melodic exploration named after that traveller in two worlds, the salmon, swimming now against, now with the current, in waters both sweet and salt. ‘Salmo Salar’ has a sizzling summer touch. Its intro blends mingling mood-inducing chords in voices and strings, taking us underwater before a light but determined beat kicks in, spangled with piano arpeggios and snatches of melody as the spiritual vocals continue to evoke a watery vibe. The sustained breakdown surprises with a new clarinet tune, almost middle eastern, marking a shift of phase, after which a freer, jazzy feel predominates. ‘Salmo Salar’ launches on Saisons on July 10.
