Otis McDonald started as an alias for me to make "Beats" under. YouTube commissioned me to write, record, mix and master 30 hip hop tracks for their royalty free library. I was faced with the dilemma of not being able to sample records. "I play 10 different instruments," i told myself. Why not write new music, make it sound like an old record, then slice it up and make new music out of it. It starts with the real instruments and then I play analog synths and play sampled drums with a controller. Not a lot of quantizing going on here. Real music for real music lovers.
