It had been years since I had created a song from scratch. Not just a few notes of music that sound good. Not just words that flow together. But a piece that grabs me there, in the gut, that gives me chills and takes me far, far away in my mind, and on which I would lay my voice to accompany this journey.

It was the end of a day in April. My son, who has a bright musical future ahead of him, had taken out his brand new guitar. He had an idea, a series of chords, and a first verse.

‘Because you don't know how much I love you,’ I suggested right away, ‘And how I feel alone tonight.’

It sounded a bit like Oasis, reminding me of my youth, when I was on stage with my band, and I replied: ‘We've got a hit here, I'll write the rest.’

Yes, son, you've just turned 16, you live for music like I did at your age, but you also have both feet firmly planted in feelings and love. And at this moment, they are so powerful, so palpable, they can turn you upside down, hurt you like hell and make everything else seem pointless.

As I wrote the lyrics to this song that I imagined giving to you, I tried to immerse myself in those years while bringing maturity to my story. I worked on it for nearly three months, searching for the right words, the lyricism of British pop, whether it be Oasis or Fools Garden, all with the help of Garage Band.

I let this story unfold, this feeling of being at the market in the pouring rain, hoping that she would come back or simply notice me, that the long-awaited sunny days would return. I enjoyed this double narrative... Then I thought to myself, "it must be even harder today to feel invisible, like a “madman” trying to get the attention of the one he loves. Connected, no ‘Like’, not even a “seen”... That feeling of happiness from a ‘thumbs up’. This hyper-connected world in which young people live today, with its instantaneity, makes all those moments even more painful than they were in my memories.

Then one day, as I was immersed in this song, I wanted to take it in a different direction. Something touching on my world of electronic sounds. Modern, but retro, like the band ‘The Weeknd’. The new sounds of SynthMaster 3 and its collection seemed like the perfect direction to take. I was going to produce a new sound, again working carefully for almost a month.

All that was left was to add the vocals. Yours? Mine? I couldn't bring myself to let go of everything I had built, which had become a part of me. That's how I heard it in my head, that's how I needed to share it. You remain the one who provided the seed, the main idea and the inspiration.

I went to find that microphone I've wanted to sing into ever since you were born. Sixteen years without ever plugging it in, taking the time needed to write a new song from start to finish. Here it is, I offer it to you with some very special thoughts.

We never saw the moment the sky broke.
Perhaps it had been breaking for centuries,
crumbling silently above our heads,
until the first fragments began to fall.

At first, the ash seemed harmless.
It drifted slowly, like snow without warmth,
a soft shroud over the ruins we called home.
We told ourselves it was only dust,
that it would pass,
that it could not bury what was already forgotten.

But the ash did not cease.
It thickened, layer upon layer,
suffocating voices, erasing paths,
sealing memories beneath a weight too heavy to unearth.

Now we walk in a world without horizon,
where day and night are the same shade of grey.
Every breath tastes of what once burned,
and every silence echoes with what was lost.

Ashfall is not an ending.
It is the inheritance of a fire long gone,
the residue of choices we never dared to make.

when even our shadows are covered and unnamed

Atrium Carceri - Reliquiae sends the listener careening through the dim mists of time immemorial. There are asylums, prison halls and dark corridors in the twisted nether where our current illusion was created by our former slaves - now transformed to cruel masters by the Council of Twelve. Through the citadels of the Lost God, Where the rejuvenation of the collective soul has become brainwashing of the endless hordes that await his return with bubbling glee. This journey is one not soon forgotten, as the churning cogs of the old city dig ever deeper into humanity's clandestine past. A sickly dull thud of stone on flesh is all that interrupts the ceaseless moanings and burrowings of the old city of our past glories. That and the incessant clamour of machines beyond count. The yearning for a way out of the illusion leads us to the top of the thousand steps of obsidian, where the processing plants never stop the injection of false hope to the masses of divided consciousness. A memory springs unbidden to my wandering mind: A black worm eats at the heart of the sun. 

Reliquiae is a syringe filled with the deepest of sounds, with details so carefully perfected and indeed profound that it will make you listen to the album again and again, falling deeper and deeper into the void of the awakened. Spanning 19 tracks this is one epic release that tells a tale revolving around the relics that are the basis of our enslavement. It truly must be heard to be fathomed
