A powerhouse collaboration arrives on Defected as BLOND:ISH, Moby and Kiko Franco come together for ‘Natural Blues’. A bona fide talent with many strings to her bow, BLOND:ISH has emerged as one of this generation’s most acclaimed electronic artists. From launching the non-profit environmental organisation Bye Bye Plastic and her own label ABRACADABRA, to playing the biggest stages around the world like Coachella, Tomorrowland and Pacha Ibiza’s first ever female residency in 2025, there is nothing BLOND:ISH can’t do. Returning to Defected after 2024’s tastemaker hit ‘The Cure’ with KeeQ and Chloe Paige, BLOND:ISH now collaborates with Moby, one of the world’s most prolific and best-selling dance music artists who also returns to Defected after label debut ‘You & Me’ with Anfisa Letyago. The two powerhouses are joined by acclaimed DJ, producer and remixer Kiko Franco, an established Brazillian talent who has collaborated with the likes of Duke Dumont and Vintage Culture while lending his sound to chart-topping tracks from Shouse and Zerb. ‘Natural Blues’ is a uniting of three experts in their field; Moby’s signature, sample-led sound is underpinned by upbeat piano patterns, complimented by BLOND:ISH’s complex production skills, while Kiko Franco’s monumental use of Afro house percussion and synth leads maximises the pre-drop tension. Together the three artists have created a rich and explosive house record that is set to uplift dancefloors globally this summer.

"How much do you love me?”

My dad used to ask me (shamelessly) with his BIG smile. I wondered if it was because grown men needed validation.

Once, he told me that if he didn't have to raise my brother and me, he would have been a professional singer. (Yes, times were harder for singers then. However, I also know that my mother would not have married him if he had become one, because there would be too much female competition.)

Anyway, a month ago, when he was singing along to a Chinese classic, I passed him a microphone to complete the “professional” singer look. And while he was having fun, I recorded his voice on my iPad.

Later on, as I replayed his recording, I felt very grateful. It was my dad's love for singing that brought me into a relationship with songs. And when I was struck by vocal spasms a few years back, it was also this love that turned my winter into a song of hope.

I spent the next few nights laying down some instruments and mixing his voice into a track. 

It was hard, as I found myself tearing at times. My father’s voice, so personal and pure, was bleeding through my headphones.

Singing me a validation I never knew I needed.
