I wrote the lyrics to this song after watching a movie called 'Angel Baby'. It's about a young couple, who both suffer with schizophrenia. They fall in love, she gets pregnant, so they and decide to go off their meds and as a result, their whole world starts to fall apart.
I have a family member who suffers with mental illness, so this is also, a very personal song.  
Cris came up with the guitar line, and we worked on the vocal melody together.

This song was written after having read an article about an ancient city in Europe, which brought back memories of a trip I took years ago when I toured through parts of Europe with a choir. We visited many old castles and cities that were amazing and full of so much history.

For every being cursed with self-awareness, there remains the unanswerable question, who am I? We struggle to find meaningful connections to one another. We fight, we love, in the hope that somehow together, we can understand our significance in the universe, but each of us alone must answer the question, who am I? What does it mean to be alive, in the vast infinity of time, and how do I matter? 
Is there a master plan that drives the randomness of creation... something unknowable that dwells in the soul, and presents each one of us with unique set of challenges, that will help us discover, who we really are? And if this invisible thread that holds us together, were to sever, to cease, what then...what would become of billions of lone, disconnected souls? There-in lies the great quest of our lives, to find, to connect, to hold on...for when our hearts are pure, and our thought’s in line, we are all truly one, capable of repairing our fragile world, and creating a universe of infinite possibilities.

The Circle Of Insantiy!

This song is about a girl who has too much to drink at a bar and then what happens after that. cowparsleyman and I worked on this song together as part of a songwriters challenge.

It all started out very innocently
She came to the bar for a couple of drinks
Dressed to the nines, ya a perfect 10
If looks could kill there would be no men  
She attracted us like a swarm of bees,
We willing bought, so she drank for free
Pounding them back, 1, 2, 3!
Then her eyes glazed over and she stared to dance 
Teasing us seductively as we watched in a trance 
Bouncing about with her tits and curls
In a drunken haze she stared to twirl 
She wasn’t aware that her boob fell out
We all ogled her as it flopped about
Looked a bit like a rainbow trout 
“Let’s go party!“ she began to shout
The bar was closing so we left with her
And the rest of the night is kind of a blur

What the hell?  Where am I?” Where are my clothes?
My shoes? Who are these people? OMG!

Just when I thought, I’d figured it out; the light comes up on me
I don’t know where I am, or where I’ve been 
But I know a gotta split this scene

It’s 5 in morning and I’m walking home
No money for a taxi and I’m all alone
In high heel shoes and my party dress
My make-ups running and I must confess
I look like a vampire thrown into the light
With blackened eyes; I’m sickly white

My feet are killing me with blisters on my toes

Polidicks are playing politricks in our fragile world

It’s that special time of the year 
We shop till we drop and spread lots of cheer 
Have turkey dinner with family and friends
Get the latest ipads and clothing trends 

I’m a dirty old bum, living on the street
I didn’t choose addiction as my disease 
I can’t control my cravings or my broken mind
I’m hungry and cold, most of the time

Mental illness, addiction and brain injuries
We’re treated like we have social leprosy 
Why is our disease treated so differently?
Than lupus or asthma or diabetes
So much Stigma….   

So many homeless in a heartless land
Who’s at fault, who’s to blame?

We just want a little compassion; a little dignity. 
We’re human beings not aliens. Why are we shunned?
We’re not contagious. We didn’t choose this life. 
Maybe we’re here too help you expand your hearts
So that you can love unconditionally.
After all, how would Jesus have treated us?

I was compelled to write this song after having a very lucid dream...this is best listened to on head phones.

I travel in my sleep on a rainbow of dreams, where fragile thread 
Sews the seam, between imagination and reality.
It first appeared to be like other stars, glowing in the night way out far
It was there in one spot and then it was gone, like God skipping stones,
On the universal pond
It zigzagged across the midnight sky, like a drunken diamond learning to fly
Then suddenly, it was overhead, like a giant mushroom of infrared
A stem of light beamed from its womb, and I am compelled, to be consumed. 

I entered a portal into a space, filled with light and sounds that vibrate
On frequencies unknown to me, on frequencies that let me see
Into other worlds, into other times, and as I shifted into other…paradigms
There was not fear, there was no dread, no questions asked, no nothing said.

And as I embraced my newfound space, I realized that…
I was not alone in this, illusive zone 
Some familiar, some were not, deceased loved, or so I thought
We danced, we played, we sang, we ate…and as we partied on this,
 utopian star
Telepathic messages seemed to come from a far, which in sighted an awakening
A remembrance of who we really are…and as an atmosphere of love, enveloped us all, we became like one big spinning ball, and I began to feel lighter and lighter and less and less dense, and then suddenly, it all began to make perfect sense.
Then great figures appeared with the light, like holograms of celestial delight
And these alien beings began to sing, a cosmic opera with angels wings
That soared into the depths of my soul and sent me spinning out of control
Into an ecstasy beyond belief, an inspiration of love and peace, and they chanted...

:You are star seeds, from other galaxies, planted on this earth to bring in harmony:
“It is time to germinate, and co-create peace on your planet
You are not alone in this universe; we have come to help you move from
the age of destruction, to the age of enlightenment. We are your friends.

I laughed, I wept, had I died, was I dead, or was I letting go of all I’d been fed
Of realities I know and the seeds I’d sown, or was I indeed in the twilight zone

Where delusion, no longer rules.

I wrote this song after my father passed away so it has some references to the comments he made as he began to leave his body~I love you and miss you dad!

This is my version of David Bowies 'Space Oddity' with a twist. Major Tom starts hearing the Beatles singing in space. It's the first cover I've ever recorded/produced. It was for a cover song challenge on a song writers forum... just a bit of fun. It was certainly a challenge and I hope I haven't totally destroyed this amazing song.
