A little something I came up with like two months ago. Once I heard the sample on the record, I already knew how I'd like to flip it and it was dope from the start imo. Just took me ages to finalize everything. I left it unmastered though, because I want to put this beat on a beat tape I alluded to earlier this year and master all of it cohesively.

I'd also like to dedicate this one to a friend and fellow artist, who recently passed away. RIP man, I'll be there whenever.

Aaaaaaaand we're back from the dead, again.

I didn't overcomplicate this one right here, I just heard the samples come together pretty much perfectly and added some effect fuckery on top to keep things from going stale too fast.

Lucidity

I initially wanted to turn this one into a lo-fi beat, hence the "rain drops" sample, but as I was vibing over at a friend's house, it came together like this. Now, about half a year later I got around to mastering it, so here we are.

Tempest

When I first heard the sample, I initially intended to turn this into more of a grime beat, but since I got stuck with that idea and was inspired by the aesthetics of Drill beats around the time of Pop Smoke's passing, I settled with this iteration.

Lately I've been obsessing over Westside Gunn's, Conway's and Benny's work, so here's my attempt at emulating the type of beats they pick.

Premeditation

An interpolation/recreation of the music from the "supposed" anti-piracy screen in Mario Party DS. From what I've seen, videos of the screen have only shown up recently, so whatever, the original track kinda slaps, even if it's not from the actual game.
Anyways, I had a blast making this one.

I came across the sample when I first heard "Practice" off of Bandana in 2019 and as much as I love both the original and Madlib and Freddie's version respectively, I still found a way to flip it into something I can confidently call my own.

I also left it unmastered because I want to put this beat on a collection of beats, a beat tape if you will, later this year and master all of it cohesively.

I initially started the project in late December of 2019 after I listened to my copy of Dilla's Donuts, but picked it back up after I listened to the album in February, wondering if the project was even worth finishing. So I listen to the chops I picked from the sample and yes, it was totally worth it. Since I finalized the arrangement of the beat on my father's birthday, I decided to dedicate this one to him.
