A sure-fire club hit from the mind behind ‘Beg’ whose previous releases have all seen such significant success that they have earned the Liverpudlian a reputation that is second to none. ‘I See’ is a powerfully emotive cut built around Charli Taft’s beautifully melancholic voice which this talented producer coalesces with warm melodic synths and a creative usage of brass samples accomplishing a delightfully enchanting outcome. Shadow Child provides his own unique spin to the track by fashioning Taft’s vocals around the signature Dirtybird inimitability, in this case an orchestral build up into a thudding lo-fi bassy hook accompanied by his distinctively energetic usage of hats and snare. On the other hand the rendition by The Crooked Man layers various sounds into a complicated brew of wonky and dark elements that exhibits the imaginative creativity of such an experienced and longstanding producer. Nick Devon's most recent EP, 'Adrasteia', sends sounds of spatial seductiveness through speakers. This four track EP includes title track Adrasteia, Glacier, Devotion, and Sunflower.

'Adrasteia' contains flirtatious melodies which twinkle brightly by contrast against the dark, deep chords. An entire solar system on it's own, 'Adrasteia' is a new experience altogether. Inducing inspiration through this spacey track, Nick Devon pushes his ability to ingeniously craft beauty into sound.

'Glacier', a track fitting it's name, contains a subtle, siren-like sound accompanied by a tangle of percussions that create a sense of constant growth. Swelling ever bigger, larger, and more intense, this is a 'Glacier' you wouldn't wish to avoid on your journey.

Moving further into this musical journey, 'Devotion' plays on Nick Devon's ability to hit hard while softly caressing the atmosphere set around this EP. 'Devotion' is a perfect harmonization of different styles of techno, making it without a doubt, one of the most unique productions on this EP.

Finally, 'Sunflower' closes the EP through both an insanely emotional collection of sounds, as well as a sophisticated arrangement. 'Sunflower', perfectly matching it's title, turns happily to the lighter, more captivating sounds, while remaining firm in it's core and bass line. 

One not to be ignored or forgotten, Nick Devon consistently conveys his mastery at sound design through multiple arrangements and styles, all the while keeping his own touches consistent.

Get Physical co-founders M.A.N.D.Y continue to rework and remix their recent LP ‘Double Fantasy’ LP, this time round it’s ‘Rabbit Mountain’ which gets two interpretations from the duo and another from Gerd Janson. 
Up first on the package and premiered here is the ‘Rework’ version of ‘Rabbit Mountain’ which sees M.A.N.D.Y deliver a smooth and melodious take on the original, laying down seven minutes of metallic percussive chimes, rumbling subs and emotive string melodies. Gerd Janson steps up to follow, turning ‘Rabbit Mountain’ into an acid frenzy with squelching 303 bass licks acting as the driving force whilst shuffled rhythms and the original’s bell sounds ebb and flow throughout. Lastly M.A.N.D.Y deliver another mix to close the package, this time round entitled the ‘8 AM Version’ and as the name would suggest it’s aimed at those euphoric early morning moments on dance floors, doused with dreamy atmospherics and emotive string progressions.

The reflective and psychedelic dream world of Footprintz debut LP ‘Escape Yourself’ is fully unleashed on the Visionquest imprint this March and next single ‘Uncertain Change’ is one of the twelve glowing examples of the duos’ esteemed sonic and lyrical wonder. Reworked here by two of dance music’s finest auteurs, Audion aka Matthew Dear and Maceo Plex ride in full effect.

With a distinct coming of age theme, ‘Uncertain Change’ is a perfect slice of dreamy synth-pop. Anchored by a powerful bassline, uplifting melodies inflected with new wave nostalgia blend into softly spoken vocals heavy with melancholy as the underlying sense of what it feels like to be young and unsure is ever present. Warped electric guitar strums add to a creeping darkness, but this is kept at bay by an overriding warmth and depth of soul that filters through. ‘Uncertain Change’ will transport the listener to an age of innocence.

The ‘Maceo Plex Reconception’ is endowed with the producers signature swing. Tailored for the disco, skipping pendulum beats and a heavier bass beat underpin the in tact phrasing of the original song leading up to a breakdown and powerful bassline drop.

In The ‘Audion Loves You Mix’ Mathew Dear in his Audion guise deconstructs the song and pieces it back together with an entirely transformative minimal tapestry of sounds. An epic reimagining of sparse electronic bleeps and warped vocals build into a majestic framework of fizzing tension and textured soundscapes. Ultimately remnants of the original melody fuse with Audion’s epic groove as the track surges towards an optimistic end.
