Hazardous Game

Starting off 2025, the new year, with a bit of uncertainty.
A life- choices theme? An Economic cautionary tale?
I prefer the political application of the Latin "Buyer Beware". The application came, in the US in November, turning back progress. In Canada, Trudeau has just announced his resignation. Buyer Beware, or to use Joni Mitchell's words, "You don't know what you've got til it's gone, they paved paradise (progress) and put up a parking lot (or oil pipelines, or coal mines, or trying to threaten neighbours and make enemies of friends). But the people knew what they were doing when they created this mess...or were they victims of social media, filters, throttles, algorithms, and moneyed influence peddling?

A dark musical synth-based veneer, casts a brooding affect over the listener, though, if the message is heard, embraced, and a direction changed, a hint of optimism may yet prevail.

@TexMex-Shaman of the Eclectic Collective had the cool idea to add a short hambone performance to the 'Country Ham' track he wrote and invited us to play on. He originally asked if anyone would like to try, but with no takers, he did it himself. I wasn't familiar with the term before but once I heard him perform it, I realized it was something I'd tried before too, and asked if I could take a stab at it after all. You hear it at the outro of the song as the music fades, but this is an isolated recording of just the hambone stuff - in this case boot stomps, hand & body slaps, and vocalizations. Thanks Tex for this awesome song, and teaching me this technique rich in Southern tradition. As a percussionist, this was a treat to record!

#Buzzing Pop Candidate (I didn't do it on purpose I swear...🤷🏽‍♀️ 😆🔆)

File Updated: Piano added and orchestral basses and sang an additional low lead line throughout. Still building the idea so the over layering will be fixed when it's fully filled with instruments. Also mutiple vocal lines have become a great way for me to build one solid vocal line. I think I understnad whats happneing now... You then when singing it after several listens have a chance to get the best nuances from all the lines... so they setup your final vocal for a near future take


My Uncle said that to me years ago. About the heart and a map. He's more like a brother to me and is a wonderful soul. A true light server (Server of Good if the other words seem whack job to you) For human history we have looked for light. Religion tried to tell us to look outside for it when the opposite is true in my universe. Light represents where we come from. The sun. I believe its actually important to focus on it as light and maybe we'll understand that better when we understand the effects of intention better...

In Ireland we are neutral with a defence based status militarily (we're obviously fucked if attacked but sure 🤷🏽‍♀️we're all fucked if an asteroid hits and who worries about that 😆) We generally genuinely love everyone. We have a national broadcaster in RTE that has proved over the years they have at their heart a try for the truth about things genuinely. We have frank conversations with 'power' such as Israel at the moment. We are a positive beacon and I'll stand up and happily celebrate that in a song especially in the face of all the fake which challenges this way forward.

We all need to be the positive and balance out the whiners. Even the universe tells us that. EVERYTHING is positive and negative

I'm not at all saying we are better or worse then anyone. But when we have something we all have it. whether it's culture from long ago, culture from now or the culture we are about to create to fix this shit show we all have to watch

Humanity

Hey…. Thanks for dropping by. April 21st, fresh snow on the ground that hopefully will melt off by the end of the day. Yesterday, I was out transplanting some small Lupine and Columbine plants from out of the lawn. They grew there from seed that spilt from nearby flowerbeds. I put them into a rock garden I recently refurbished. I pulled all the rocks out, dug down to get all the invasive grass roots out, and rebuilt it with a few extra rocks. After that chore, I dug up several Spruce seedlings from the Spruce trees I planted here decades ago. Those little saplings grew up under a lilac bush, so I moved them out into open areas in the backyard. They probably won’t get to be 3 feet tall by the time I pass from this mortal coil, as I am old, but I plant them anyway b/c they’ll most likely still be here when I am gone. Ha. I have been transplanting a lot of volunteer flower plants into my neighbor’s yard, from my vegetable garden in preparation for Spring planting. They find their way into the garden, by wind, bird or however, and I just let them grow, but soon there’s more flowers than vegetables, so I find them new homes. Lastly, I replaced the wonky wheel and axle assembly on my old wheelbarrow, held together by hose clamps, during a snowy day last week, with a wheel from a wheelbarrow I recently got from a pile of free stuff (junk) out on the road, that a neighbor was tossing out. The barrow was cracked, but the wheel/axle were fine. Now I am ready to roll. That is how Spring is here in the mountains…. So several years back, there was quite a large pack of dogs that would freely run around our rural neighborhood. They lived here and loved being able to roam. When I first saw them on my way to the mailbox, they did not know me, and several dogs growled at me. (Rightly so.) Ha. It was a standoff moment for sure. So I just laughed at them. They were not anticipating that. So from then on, we’d have some fun whenever I saw them. Most of those dogs have died over the years. It was sad to see them go. So I included them in this song.
