It's time for your next treatment. The latest strange therapy session, led by Tomohiko Sagae, guarantees to break through your blood-brain barrier immediately after entering your ears. His Deba Bōchō EP is a brain damaging mind cracker, packed with five tremendous tracks. 

DB#1 kicks off the session with pulverizing power. Beams of nerve wrecking noise crash into you. Grinding and screeching, slowly flowing up and down, this one clears your head of every last bit of clarity and sanity. DB#2 marches onwards with mechanical mayhem. The steam-powered mechanism propels itself with distortion. Get rolled over and beaten down by a gabber'esque flurry of punching and pounding, crushing all matter it comes across.  Operant re-mixed DB#2 into an evenly intriguing piece. The steam makes place for electricity. Twisted vocals like ghosts stuck in the circuitry peek above the static-drenched, rhythmic layers. It keeps on kicking, surging with low-end energy.

DB#3 hits harder than the heaviest machinery. A distortion-tipped drill digs deeper and deeper, eradicating everything in its path. Metallic hammering and system shattering sounds lay bare the core of crude craftsmanship. Stave's remix of DB#3 works like a tension building sharp-shooter. Stripped down of excess energy, it stutters onward, grabbing you tight in bursts of beats like a Gatling gun.

Haven returns with their second EP with a split between Italian metalhead Ayarcana and resident Keepsakes. 

Ayarcana kicks off the A-side with ‘Face Struck With An Axe’, featuring chugging guitar-like synth work, tortured vocal wailings, and a monstrous kick, epitomising the Berlin-based producer’s combination between techno and metal. The A2 then picks up the tempo with rhythms reminiscent of metallic double kick poundings, a cheeky acid line and a dissonant noisy melody coming in the latter half of the track in the Italian producer’s ‘Conflict’.

Keepsakes begins the flip with the screeching Transylvanian synth line, thumping drums, and creepy atmosphere of ’Populist Piss Pot’. The B2 closes out the EP with the Haven co-founder’s ‘Narcissists From Space’, hammering out crunchy, rolling drums and spacey, ethereal synth work leading to noisy break-downs that make you wonder ‘what would that social media obsessed dickhead from the office be like if they were an extraterrestrial?’ Probably much the same - worth ignoring.

ALKHEMY’s The Black Hole turns three years-old, and to celebrate, the Brooklyn-based collective has called upon some of the mightiest in the galaxy to create this dance floor-ready compilation. The 27 artists featured on this VA were invited to participate by combining their signature production styles with a Black Hole-inspired twist, to showcase a range of the world’s raviest sounds. Over a third of the participating artists have headlined The Black Hole for their US debut or NY debut, including, Scan 7, Plural (Kukri), Keepsakes, D. Carbone, 138, Axel Picodot and WarinD. Each providing a nostalgic glimpse into their respective journeys through Brooklyn’s favorite galactic rave. The remaining artists have brought forth their own unique sounds, creating an undeniably powerful collection of tracks that will leave a lasting mark on 2019.

The compilation is just as diverse as the dance floors at The Black Hole and as well as the lineups assembled by ALKHEMY. Proudly bringing artists from the US, South America and Europe together. Another example of the power that lays behind unity.

The cover art, which was inspired by the iconic flyers of The Black Hole, who are always put together by Danny Garber, was designed by Detroit legend, Alan Oldham aka DJ T-1000. Being that ALKHEMY’s mission is to highlight diversity in techno, Alan carried on the tradition of The Black Hole’s flyers where people of color and women are showcased in a powerful manner. Keeping the mastering mainly in-house, 80% of the tracks were mastered by ALKHEMY’s Buzzi.

Cette semaine nous recevons Eklose (@eklose-nuisancesonore ), co-fondatrice de l’asso Nuisance Sonore (@nuisancesonore) . Cet insaisissable collectif fait vibrer les salles et les champs de Bretagne, de Brest à Rennes en passant par Lannion.

Si Eklose aime tous les styles de musique électronique, derrière les platines l’ambiance est à l’asile de fous. Kicks en avant, distorsion et cris de démence sont sa marque de fabrique. Pas étonnant qu’elle ait été invitée à jouer à Rennes chez les fous de Tripalium et Acid Avengers. Militante de la rave libre, elle a aussi participé au Tek'Steve'All à Nantes, pour que faire la fête ne soit plus jamais puni de mort. On retrouve cet esprit libertaire dans sa track “You gonna fight” que vous trouverez sur SoundCloud et qui sent bon la contestation.

Pour ÖND, Eklose a sélectionné des tracks de techno torturée, breaké et résolument industrielle accompagnée d’une pointe d’acid et de trance. Bonne écoute !
