During our takeover on Polaroid Radio throughout October and November, we are delivering shows, playlists and music 24/7 on the Iris channel, inspired by the pages of Wax Poetics.
We reached out to our community to share a 60 minute mix with us every week.

Week 2 theme was Soul Searching - Records for the soul

This winning mix is by DJ ROOPE-SETÄ from Helsinki, Finland. A record collector/digger, DJ and a producer. 'I’ve been diggin’ vinyl records (mostly soul!) for over two and a half decades and I’ve been searching for that perfect soul tune ever since (that’s impossible I know and I think I don’t wanna ever find it). So, my journey of Soul Searching has been going on for some time now. With my mixtape “Mellow Madness” I think I pulled it through pretty well and at least I found a deeper understanding of my soul while bringing that mix to life. The mixtape is full of 70’s slow soul tunes that will pamper your soul through and through. I used only 100% original vinyls and with the Hip Hop DJ’s touch!'

An after hours / comedown / back to mine mix with a wide range of deep house, mellow breaks, classics, film score, reggae, roots, re-edits and some unreleased gems. Also a Beach Boys accapella turned into a lo-fi break tune, which was their first and only authorised remix, and for many years after making it, originally for playing as an end of night tune. Every track has a story behind why it's in this mix, or has had my fingerprints involved in it in some way.
