He started blogging and found a way to turn his blog into a cash machine. But he saw bigger and wanted more, so he built a network of advertisers with a partner in France. Few years later he sold his shares of the company and used the money to invest in his digital marketing agency.

Don’t get me wrong, it was not easy for him. He had a lot of challenges and made a lot of mistakes. He also made some bad investment decisions. But at the end of the day he managed to build several profitable businesses.

During his interactions with his clients from the digital marketing agency, he realized that there was a pain point no one was addressing. Instead of getting blinded by the problems Alex thinks about the solutions to fix them. Then he executes his plans to build the solution.

That’s why he decided to start a new adventure and build an automation marketing software. But how do you move from consulting to selling a product? ep26: How To Generate Online Leads And Convert Them Into Clients

In the last episode we’ve talked about generating online leads and converting them into clients using the power of content marketing. You can check out that episode by clicking here and you’ll get a free e-book on how to build the perfect sales funnel…so don’t miss that.

In today’s episode we will talk about driving traffic to your content and your website. I mentioned that it’s a case study because it’s a fire consultation that I have done with one of my friend/client (Merichel) who has an online boutique for natural soaps.

Merichel is selling her products to offline businesses, but that slashes her margins and cuts her from her clients. Though she has an online store (www.maya-mia.com), she is barely making any sale online. The issue is that she did find a way to drive traffic to her website.

First she tried with Facebook ads but it did not have the expected return in investment. Here I have to mention three things. There are three problems with Facebook ads when you have an online store:

If you direct a cold traffic (people who don’t know your brand) to your store, the chances they buy from are very thin;
Selecting the right audience is key for any Facebook ad (this does not apply only to online stores but to any business); and
If the price per purchase is too small and it’s not a refillable product then Facebook ads for a cold audience are not worth the price.
The thing you have to keep in mind is that when people go on Facebook, it’s not to make a purchase. However, when people go to Google and search for “buy sunglasses” the purpose is to buy sunglasses (chocking info right?!).

Now, how do you turn Facebook visitors into client? If you remember I told people don’t go to Facebook to make a purchase. People go to Facebook to consume content. So, Instead of sending a cold traffic to your online store and expect them to buy, use content marketing and Facebook ads to create brand awareness.

People will be attracted by the content. They will read the content and maybe download the freebie you have for them. If it’s the case you can start using drip marketing to convert them into clients. If you don’t know what drip marketing is; stay tuned for next week episode, I’ll have an expert tell you everything about this marketing strategy.

If you don’t capture people’s e-mail address with your content, don’t worry you can still stay in touch. How? Just put a Facebook pixel on your website and it will automatically capture the e-mail addresses of people so you can retarget them later. That’s how you warm up your audience.

That’s the first strategy we talked about with Merichel but you’ll find two other strategies that you can use to drive traffic to your website.

ep27: How to drive traffic to your e-commerce website [Case Study]

“Money is in the e-mail list.”

That’s what I wrote in one of my recent articles about building the perfect sales funnel.

But once you gather all those e-mail addresses, what do you do with them? Well, you can start a collection but that would not be a very profitable business.

The point is to convert those e-mail subscribers (leads) into clients. But how do you do that?

The answer to this question is: Drip Marketing.

If you take the basic definition of drip marketing, it just looks like a fancy word for e-mail marketing. However, it’s much more than that. It is a sequence of e-mails delivered over a certain period of time (that’s why we call it drip marketing) to reach a specific goal for your business.

In other words, it a way to design your leads journey into becoming a paying customer for your business.

In this episode, I invited Raphael Paulin-Daigle who is expert in conversion optimization and drip marketing for SaaS (Software as a Service) businesses. I wanted you to learn the ins and outs about this topic. To be honest I got more than what I asked for. ep28: How to build a strong relationship with your clients using Drip Marketing

Do you remember the movie Minority Report (with Tom Cruise)? Whenever we watch Sci-fi movies, we think that it will not happen in the real life until the next century or so.

I’m not sure if we should get scared or excited about it, but it’s closer to us than what we think. What if tomorrow we will have thousands of drones flying everywhere? Some of them will deliver our parcels; some of them will control the normal cars traffic and some will control the flying cars traffic. You might think I’m dreaming but drones are already becoming part of our lives.

In this interview I have invited Bassam Rhou who is the founder of Flystro. If you’re wondering what is it, it is a platform where companies can hire drone pilots for different needs.

To be honest I was quite skeptical at first. Why would companies use drones? But if you listen to this interview you might come to the conclusion that this will be part of our future. Many industries like the movie industry, the agriculture, the transport, the security…you name it, will need this kind of technology.

Now that we’ve identified the need (or the problem) and the solution, how do you actually build a business out of that? Here we’re again talking about a two sided market. You need enough companies so that drone pilots find it lucrative and you need enough drone pilots so that companies can have different options.

This is one of the first challenges this founder had. He decided to start with drone pilots and acquire 500 users before pitching to companies. How did he do that? Simply by using social media and PPC ads. Now his objective is to grow this platform exponentially and become the Uber of drones.
