I have not made a huge effort to hide myself to make you think something that is not true. So I will tell you what you might not already know. Madelyn Dionne is my pen name. I am a desperately private person. I am profoundly introverted, elderly, and partially disabled. There are many things that could have prevented me from writing songs, but many things have come together in my life that make it possible for me to write so I decided to give you a person you could see and love, but rest assured, she has no idea of you. I do. I know you. I know the hurts, the joys, the things you won’t say… the things you are afraid of and the things you love. You are who I write for no matter what name I choose or what pretty picture you see. I am still me.

I chose Madelyn Dionne decades ago. I always wanted to be her in some way. Fashion brand, trade name for some business, whatever. None of that ever happened. She comes from the first name of a dear, long gone friend of mine, and the last name of a singer I love. Madelyn + Dionne (Warwick) = Madelyn Dionne. Her image is who I would be if I weren’t me. She has wisdom, great intelligence, strength of steel, and a wit that dares to say her mind. She stands her ground and loves deeply and thoroughly. I think she is good for me and she is good for you. Just know that whatever she says, writes, produces — is me. She is me.
