Last year Berlin duo Smash TV released their emotional album effort ‘Noise & Girls’ on Get Physical. This EP features a track taken from this album, and four solid refreshing remixes.
 
The original, which is taken straight from ‘Noise & Girls’, is a slow burning deep house track with the summer in mind. Its uplifting chords and soft percussion make you dream of the sunshine and open airs.
 
The Ruede Hagelstein Remix comes in again with these sunshine vibes. Keeping the focus on the uplifting chords, but deepening the kick and adding in some scatty percussion to make this a summer anthem.
 
Cuartero again keeps the uplifting summer essence, but adds some banging drums to give this slow deep house track more attitude. This one also breathes sunshine, but the 909 sounds make this rework explosive!
 
Joyce Muniz turns in a more club orientated remix, with a deep rolling bassline and simple, crisp percussion. The vocal elements taken from the original make for lighthearted breakdowns, until the rolling bass comes back, with added 303 – this was intended for destruction.
 
Strangers In Heaven bring a strong kick and acidic sounds, which immediately grab you in the ‘Back To Paradise’ mix. The deep, resonating bassline would send shivers down your spine if you heard it on a big system!

SPANISH ARTIST CUARTERO DEBUTS WITH THE DYNAMIC 'ABANDONADO' EP ON DESOLAT X The Desolat X series welcomes in spring with a package of peak-time house rollers by Spain's rising star Cuartero, who has already caused a stir with previous releases on labels such as VIVa Music, Moon Harbour Recordings and Butch's Bouq Records. Both 'Abandonado' and 'Children's Game' are perfectly executed examples of peak-time hedonistic house and their thumping beats are characterised by driving drums, pulsating bass, spoken world samples and percussion flourishes throughout. 'Strike' slows down the tempo, adding exotic sounds and samples that create a brooding tense house record. 'Sweet In the Morning' again operates at a slightly slower BPM, with a deeper groove and percussion spirals sweeping throughout the track. Normal service resumes on 'Remember Then' which rounds off the EP in fine style. It is another rolling house cut, which features deep bass, hip-hop sample and 808 whirls. Kosovan Sabb and Spaniard Cuartero are a pair of producers who have not only their own respected 
discographies, but who have also been turning heads with their collaborative works on labels like Noir Music. 
The result of that partnership spawned tracks like “Don’t You Know” which Moon Harbour boss Matthias 
Tanzmann has not been afraid of playing plenty of times this year, and as such he welcomes the pair to his 
label for their first release, Don’t Kill My Vibe, complete with remixes from Chris Wood and Meat. 
The title track is a churning, spacious tech house groove peppered with perfectly placed hi hats. Building 
infectiously towards a peak of nimble melodies and filtered vocals, it’s a perfectly balanced, feathery track 
that will sweep up and lock in place dancefloors like DC 10 without any worries at all. 
The first remix from Frankfurt tech house innovator Chris Wood and his local Souvenir associate Meat is a 
much more full blooded and energetic affair. The loops are fleshed out with bubbling basslines and shooting 
diva cries as well as plenty of sci-fi synth details in the background, fun yet functional it’s designed for 
maximum dancing pleasure. 
The same pair provide a second remix of the same track, this one goes much deeper, staying locked in a 
rubber but funky kick drum pattern whilst layering up chord stabs, spitting drum hits and the original’s dark 
male vocal into a catchy patchwork of sound that constantly ducks and dive and will make you do the same. 
It’s back to Sabb & Cuartero then for the other original, “Front or Back”. There’s plenty of fine grain texture to 
the track which has buffed metal surfaces and a keen machine funk on display throughout. The silvery hi 
hats dangle invitingly above a punchy kick drum that hits left and right like a champion boxer. Loopy but lose, 
anthemic without being obvious, it’s a restrained tech house workout that causes maximum damage, 
especially when the horns go off in the latter half. 
Sabb & Cuartero then are a welcome addition to the Moon Harbour stable with a unique take on tech that will 
surely see them grow in stature ever more in the second half of 2013
