✦ The Low Down ✦

Quite the unique soundcast this week, with a vs set between two heavyweight names in the Aus festival scene. XAPHAN vs AZRIN. 

Matt Azrin's two aliases battle it out in a typical "techno vs psytrance" match. Matt's been at the forefront of the psychedelic scene for quite a few years now. A world renowned DJ who's performed on the big stage across the globe. Whilst featuring at some of Australia's biggest festivals such as Rainbow Serpent, Eclipse Festival, Strawberry Fields etc, He's also the label DJ for Zenon Records and Merkaba Music, blending his distinct style of psygressive, psychedelic trance, psychill and ofcourse, doof techno. 

This set is a 2 hour journey that starts of in Techno Ville before ending up in full on Zenon stomp. Untz levels are peaking, quite fitting for the day that we've just had as Victoria has just endured the biggest earthquake to date. 

Prepare to slap some walls about it.

hey lovely dazed peoples the summer is here and the festival season starts - we wish everyone a safety and proper festival summer take care and enjoy some proper psytech to darkprog vibes with:

Naiyarah AKA Naurah, born in 1997.

One of the main reasons I started djing is because I used to seek refuge into music and this is the only way I could keep myself grounded. I have turned this refuge into my passion and started to learn about music in lockdown 2021. My journey began with Lockdown Records where I delivered my first set. The first time I have faced a crowd was in July 2021 and since then my journey has proven to be a fruitful one. I collaborated with Musicaholic for a live djing set on 3rd March 2022. Among the styles I have learnt and practiced: Techno, Psytrance, Downtempo, Dark Prog, are the ones much appreciated by most people. After trying many styles, I have finally adapted myself to Psytech which has always been my favourite. I am currently a resident DJ at DHRK Sonik Radio.

I was inspired by local artists like Kenzo, Mezzle and Jean Michel Rey!

My life quote is : “Be liberal. Do what makes you happy and share music everywhere you go. Be musical and let your surroundings be as musical as you are. Music is an art and a language for me to better express myself through unspoken words.

ERIC SCHAICH BORN ON 13.05.1986 IN STUTTGART, WAS RAISED WITH MUSIC. INFLUENCED BY EXPERIMENTAL JAZZ OF HIS GRANDFATHER, ABSTRACT MUSICAL STYLES HAD HE’S FOCUS. IN 2002 ERIC BEGAN HAVING INTENSIVE INTEREST WITH THE UNDERGROUND TECHNO SCENE AND BEGAN PRODUCING HE’S OWN MUSIC. AFTER LONG NIGHTS IN STUDIOS AND CLUBS, HIS SOUND FORMED A DEEP, MINIMALIST TECHNO STYLE. ERIC PLAYED ON MAJOR EVENTS, ON THE SIDE AMONG OTHERS SUCH AS GAISER, RICHIE HAWTIN, EXTRAWELT, PAN POT AND SO ON. IT WAS FOLLOWED BY MANY MORE RELEASES ON ON LABELS  LIKE ZENON RECORDS, SOUPHERB RECORDS, COPYCOW, MINIMAHLZEIT, MISCHKONSUM RECORDS, CIRQUE DU MINIMALISTE . Cubex, born in Switzerland, discovered his passion for electronic music at a young age and began DJ'ing at 17. His initial interest in music quickly evolved into a deep passion for Drum&Bass and Techno. Over the years, Cubex honed his skills by performing at various local and national events while simultaneously organizing his own event series and co-founding the Drum & Bass label "Perkussiv Music".

At the age of 30, driven by a desire to take the next step, Cubex made the decision to temporarily step back from promoting and focus on producing music in 2010. His unique style is characterized by daring and creative beat combinations that reflect his musical roots and personal identity. By merging rhythmic and energetic House and Techno beats with hypnotic, psychedelic, and dark atmospheres inspired by Psytrance and Drum&Bass, Cubex has crafted a distinctive sound. He describes his music as "deep and twisted Psy-Techno".

Cubex's impressive discography boasts over 200 tracks, which have been released on more than 30 esteemed labels worldwide, including Zenon Records, AlpaKa Musik, Techgnosis, miniMahlzeit, Copycow, Lethal Dose, and many others. With each release, his international recognition has grown, resulting in an increasing number of bookings for gigs and festivals across the globe.
