SUNANDBASS Podcast #19 comes from Clarity – the name on a lot of people’s lips right now.

Soon after starting to send his music out, Clarity’s tunes were jumped on by all who were lucky enough to hear them. Sparse, stripped back, ice cold yet immensely powerful, the sounds he was producing belied his tender age – and of course with tracks like this, it wasn’t long before labels such as Samurai and Exit were knocking at his door. 

His performance damaged SUNANDBASS this year, and now he’s back for more – let’s call it an early Christmas present. Get wrapped up, the volume up loud and check what the man has in store for us all…

Tokyo Prose takes to the controls for SUNANDBASS Podcast #21 and he takes us on a journey showcasing again why his stock is so hugely on the rise.
 
With his debut album for Samurai Music almost complete, this mix gives us a good idea of what to look forward to – musicality, depth and emotion.

SUNANDBASS Podcast #21 - Tokyo Prose

The Daddy Randall, the DJ’s DJ, the inspiration and role model for nearly all other drum and bass DJs such as Andy C and Friction. He’s been DJing since the mid 80’s, and ripping up drum and bass raves since they began, so it’s fair to say he knows a thing or two about this game!

The Drum and Bass landscape would be quite a different place without Dan Gresham. After a number of 12’s and the defining ‘Future Sound of Cambridge’ EP on Hospital in 2004, Dan has since graced our ears with 3 Nu:Tone albums and also a Nu:Logic album with his brother and sparring partner, Logistics. 

Just the shear wealth of music cannot be ignored, but the quality control that he has managed to maintain throughout is beyond impressive. He is certainly an artist that Drum and Bass needs to be thankful for, bringing musicality, soul and depth, yet also a distinct ear and knowledge for what the dancefloor requires.

Paradox has been releasing vinyl since 1992 under his Mixrace (alongside DJ Trax), Brown Assassin and Paradox monikers. This makes Dev Paradox an essential part of drum and bass and jungle music, and he’s been on the cutting edge of it all since then – even if the kids just started stealing his hairstyle ideas now!

As we edge ever closer to SUNANDBASS 2014, one of our long time supporters steps up to the plate.

Utah Jazz has been holding the drum and bass torch up high since his first releases in 2000, since then gracing us with 4 albums, the most recent of which, his ‘Portfolio’ LP, has just been released on Spearhead.

Listen to Marcus' first ever SUNANDBASS appearance back in 2006 at the 10 Years ESP session. It was also DJ Lee’s birthday and those who were there may remember the special vibe at Ambra Night!
