Solid Steel (1st September) In Hour 1 we welcome Josef Leimberg, the Los Angeles based trumpeter and producer, who released his debut album Astral Progressions on the Alpha Pup imprint World Galaxy in October of 2016. Astral Progressions featured Kamasi Washington, Terrace Martin, Georgia Anne Muldrow, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson, Kurupt, and many more, garnishing praise from LA Times, Consequence of Sound, BBC, KCRW, LA Weekly, and many others. Close to a year later and the energy is still running strong for Josef's debut, captivating fans of eclectic music all over the world. This is a mix that represents the various influences of Josef Leimberg and was created during the final stages of recordings for his sophomore LP. He told us;
"This is a mix of some of my favorite tunes from some of the most influential artists to me. A lot of these songs have been a soundtrack to my life and bright moments in time. I love jazz, funk, fussion, blues, and progressive spiritual music. My favorite time period always seems to send me back to the '70s, which is my go to for inspiration. I hope you enjoy these selections. Peace and love to all music lovers!"
